My number one is do not drink alcohol! Learn to cook! Do it by copying professional chef recipes NOT amateur recipes posted online.
Don't let girlfriends or family members take advantage of you either. Keep right up on bills with a spreadsheet so you never ever have to make late payments or pay fees. Do not illegally park, run red lights or speed. Stay away from credit cards, but you might need one for an emergency, not for everyday use and replace with a debit card whenever possible
. Live very close to or on base on shore duty...saves on a lot of time and stress and transportation costs. Try to avoid even having a car if possible. Track every penny. Thats what the Rockefeller kids were required to do. Know where your money goes and be honest with yourself. If you are spending 300 a month at strip clubs, and bars YOU have a HUGE problem.

Don't forget the cheats. Like Get Married to someone else enlisting so you both get a increase in base pay and perks. Even if you never see them till it's time to divorce when you get out. Use your BAH and live in a trailer or some place dirt cheap and pocket 90 percent of it.

I trade futures with TD Ameritrade. My first advice is park money in a brokerage account and and build up an account amount to work with while reading a lot of financial trading books. I personally find bollinger bands, simple moving averages and Heikin Ashi candlesticks to be very powerful. Never ever assume anything goes up all the time. Be able to dribble with you non dominant hand, meaning learn how to short which means you sell trading vehicles first and buy later and collect the difference. This is an essential skill when instruments goes down in price a bit day after day after day. Nothing wrong or unAmerican about kicking that dog while its down.
