For Years, the common knowledge for bigger engines is that you needed a larger diameter rear end with 9 inch or larger
ring gears....Now we are to believe that an Eight inch gear is just as strong??..colour me with

I have a Winters Quickchange that a guy gave me as payment for some work I did for him. It's in pieces:1 center, ring & pinion;2 side bells;2 axle tubes(new) w/ford 9"tube ends. I think the tubes have been narrowed.Anyway, I'm wondering if this rear end will work fine, set up in a street car? I know a lot of guys use them in streetrods and drive them cross-country. What I'm building is a '79 chevy Monza, I already checked & there wouldn't be any clearance issues. Are these housings mag or Alum.?
