What Voldemort Nearly Looked like in Harry Potter (Unused Design)

Hey guys! Welcome to another installment of Harry Potter Theory. In this video, we’re going to be discussing the appearance of Lord Voldemort, and the very ‘different’ look that he nearly ended up having. Now, when the films first start up, Voldemort doesn’t have his body back yet (thanks Lily, James & Harry Potter). Because of this, we see him sort of awkwardly shift from one form to the next, transitioning from whisp, to a face on the back of Professor Quirrel''s head, to a rudimentary form, and then FINALLY in to the form that we’re all most accustomed to.

But what a lot of people don’t know, is that for one of Voldemort’s earliest forms , the form shown in the Philosopher's Stone (the one where he possesses and shares a head with Quirrell), the makeup/props department originally had..Very different plans for his appearance. Much...Scarier plans.

I was already so scared of voldemort as a child, I would have been in traumatized if this was the the design they went with. But, I assume the trauma would be worth it.

The most terrible face Harry had ever seen? Come on, he lived in a house with Vernon for 10 years

_scaring children, all across the world_

Indeed.

I prefer the unused design. Yes, some kids would be scarred for life. But seeing that you would have truly knew with the first movie why everybody fears Voldemort.

I think seeing a face on the back of someone's head would already be pretty horrifying.

Kids? This would give the parents nightmares.

if there were to be a remake then i would 100% say a much darker tone with that creepy demonized face would be an amazing way to go about adding to Voldemorts fear factor but I would like it to be a little more humanized for the sake of prosthetic and actually being able to see the face itself function as a n actual realistic face

Honestly the design would’ve been a lot cooler in my opinion. Would you ever consider doing a video on The Wizard Merlin in the Harry Potter Universe I know there’s not much to go on but it would still be pretty neat.

Voldemort:
THIS ISN'T EVEN MY FINAL FORM!

Should've been a mixture of both imo

It looks like the *ultimate* combination of Pumpkinhead meets H.R. Giger Xenomorphs with a dash of *necromorphs* - absolutely pg +18 :D

The unused prop looked great and I would've liked to have seen that instead, as long as they toned down the mouth a bit. Perhaps they thought it was too scary for kids at the time. There's many things they left out that were "scary, " quite a bit in the department of mysteries alone. Hope you are doing well Silas.
Stay home and stay safe everyone 💓

Voldemort was already one of my favorites in Harry Potter. And the books description of him always sounded scarier then the one i saw first in the movies. Now dont get me wrong the final version of Voldemort was cool but if he had a more bascalis like appearance it would have been so cool. I prefer the previous idea instead of the one we were given. Just imagine that creature with sharp claws, fangs, wicked smile, crimson red eyes, and its serpent like head rising out of the cauldron and fighting against Harry in the graveyard in his smokey black robes! It would be amazing; not to mention his intelligence and voice would just add to the scare factor overall. This would also leave even more mystery on how such normal looking boy turn into such horrific creature.

This looks absolutely awesome, like a mad sorcerer that spent far too much time with snakes and did all sorts of dastardly experiments with them. The perfect halfway point of man and serpent. Had this design been used, I swear Voldemort would've had a much bigger impact on me back in the day.

I’m more impressed with how well the background music imitates Hedwig’s Theme.

I would have preferred the design they didn't use, as it's much more in line with the book description. The fact that the Fiennes version didn't have red eyes with cat-like slits for pupils always bothered me. Otherwise, Fiennes was great.

I could see why they didn’t use it for the films otherwise it will be like The Dark Crystal, Return to Oz, and The Black Cauldron.
