Why is My Car Burning Oil?

With advancements in engine technology, soft piston rings have become more common. While this can improve engine efficiency and reduce emissions, it also means that the engine can burn up to 1 quart of oil for every 2,000 miles driven.

This information is supported by GM service documentation, which confirms that this oil consumption is normal for these types of engines. However, it's important to monitor your oil level regularly and top it off as needed to prevent damage to your engine.

So, if you notice your engine is burning oil more frequently, don't panic! It may just be due to the soft piston rings. Just keep an eye on your oil level and add oil as needed. Thanks for watching, and I hope this video was helpful!

Also start saving for a catalytic converter and O2 sensors replacements. Burning oil will kill your CAT in roughly 100K.
