I've been using WSL2 for about 6 months. Just to play some simple Linux games LOL. Once it's installed you can install Linux apps using the terminal. Once the app is installed it will show up right in the Start menu and you can just click on it and Linux will start and the app will load. It's almost native except window tiling and so on doesn't work as you are not in Windows. However manual resizing is fine. You can also see and access the Windows filesystem from the Linux terminal or apps.
