Tumblr isn’t like other social medias since it’s technically not a social media site, it’s a blogging site with social features, where the population are on a spectrum from asocial to antisocial (yes, those words have different meanings) with heavy dumbassery. And that’s what makes it great.

Saw a reddit refugee talking about how they keep writing posts and then getting cold feet about posting them bc they feel like they're "doing it wrong" but then they look around at these absolutely batshit insane posts we pass around and wonder what theyre worried about. They compared it to being at a fancy restaurant and looking around at the other patrons to see what fork they're supposed to eat the spaghetti with only to realize that the other patrons are using the bread sticks as improbable chopsticks.

literally like you get the slightest thing wrong on reddit and 300 people are correcting you in the comments meanwhile on tumblr you ask for the science side of tumblr and they say “i diagnose this poor deer with baby it’ll take a few years to go away :(“ and that’s considered reasonable and in fact correct
