10 Most Important Planetary Defense Forces in Star Wars

We all know about the Jedi and the Clone Troopers, we know about the Empire it's massive armies of Stormtroopers. Some might have even heard of the judicial forces. But by and large the average citizen in the galaxy depended on the bravery and courage of neither of these organizations, instead they relied on their local planetary defense forces. Drawn from the local populations, these PDFs came in many different form, but one thing united their purpose and that was the defense of the homeland.

I still think Umbara has the scariest defense force.

The Naboo defence forces could have been far stronger _if_ the Humans and Gungans had a mutual defence treaty that united them against any outside invader.

The Humans deliberately kept their forces weak so as to not appear to be a threat to their one time rivals. But a mutual defence force would have enabled them to build up instead.

As well, by keeping some of their space fighting force hidden in Gungan underwater bunkers, the Naboo forces would be able to mount a suprise counter-attack, catching landing forces off guard.

And with their completely different styles of combat, combined ground forces would have been far more difficult for a enemy to confront.
The Gungan ground units would have benefited from having Humans with blasters and ground vehicles to back them up.

The Alderaan Defence forces ultimately weren't that effective, their ground forces and infantry were proven to not up to the task in 0BBY.

I love Planetary Defense Forces, it adds a Faction outside the regular Movie/TV/or Game of Rebel vs Empire or Republic vs Separatist or even Sith vs Jedi

What was that movie clip about sentient fish on the beach? Also, PDFs and local police are underrated in Star Wars I think. Same with Halo to a lesser degree and a lot of media I feel. The big galaxy spanning forces are cool, but militia and police would probably bare the brunt of any first invasion, or organized crime. Like the post ww2 morphine smuggling but with GAR med supplies or something.
