Given how much of the Imperial military budget was devoted to keeping local brush wars and regional conflicts under control, I am amazed that the Republic remained so peaceful for so long after the Ruusan Reformation.

Then again, maybe that's simply what the Republic told everyone, and they just had a compliant press that made everyone think peace was the status quo. In that case, the Clone War wasn't so much a huge break from a long peace so much as it was too big to hide the fact that the Star Wars galaxy is at war with itself so often that it's basically the Mad Max Thunderdome of sci-fi settings.

Part of me really wants to see some of the SW creators like Gen-Tech, and Eckhardt's Ladder create a hypothetical world in Star Wars. What defense fleet would they have?

When it talks about the Naboo security forces only having 15, 000 men, I have to imagine that’s just the garrison in theed, a kind of household division, which would make sense since that’s the area of Naboo we see the most. I have to imagine there are other defense districts all across the planet with each city maintaining at least a division of guardsmen.

Edit: by my calculations, of naboos 4.5 billion inhabitants about 1.2 billion are human and thus fall under the jurisdiction of the Naboo royal house and security forces, to compare to an IRL nation of similar population, namely the people’s republic of China with 1.4 billion, they maintain a land army of about 2.5 million soldiers, as well as about 1 million reserves. I’d imagine Naboo would realistically have a security force of similar size, perhaps smaller owing to naboos traditions of peace and relative disarmament, maybe the royal guard has 1.7 million active guardsmen planet wide but we only focus on the 15, 000 directly in theed for the majority of Star Wars content. Also, this is more a side note, I like to think a lot of former guardsmen joined the rebel alliance when the royal guard was dissolved by the empire, I’m sure their experience and training would’ve made them some of the best troops the alliance had to offer, similar to the role played by the Alderaan security forces.

Usually with local government money making their own military forces or buying surplus stuff from galactic armies. Although some worlds like Eriadu and Corellia had better fleets and armies.

This is how I’d improve the new republic in response to rumors of the first order. Organize pdf training by mercenaries or mandalorians for a unified mobilization. Once the first order attacks, these units can be moved to hidden bases as a counter army of spec ops

The fact naboo has such a small force goes to show that star wars always had trouble with realistic numbers, sizes and quantifications. come on 15k is absolutely terrible

Fantastic content. Would have loved to seen Star Wars PDFs compared to Warhammer 40k PDFs just to show a contrast. Barely militarized to near absolutely militarized. Also, might want to check your sound output and mixing, oftentimes it can be hard to hear your voice over the music. Good choices in music, but still really want to hear your dulcet tones.

In previous videos you have said that credits are roughly 1:1 with the dollar. A premium fighter jet IRL is the F-35 at $120 million, competitively 200, 000 credits is a infinitesimal. Especially considering that a mid-priced fighter like the x-wing (used an X-Wing goes for 65, 000 credits) and how durable and low-maintenance an X-wing is (I mean Luke’s X-wing was underwater for weeks or months on Dagobah and he just cleared out the water and slime and flew it away) you’d think even the poorest planets (with any sort of population at least) could afford thousands of fighters. In addition, a Gozanti-class Cruiser is only about 200, 000 credits. So unless the planet is populated solely by a few tens of thousands of subsistence farmers they should have some decent fighting ships.

With inter-planetary forces, do space station bases make sense over bases on a planet surface?
I can think of maintenance costs and pilots being ready to deploy as the deciding factors. Anything else I should consider?

I love that you are coving the Ukraine situation and the passion you show for it. I really wish it was possible for the US to get directly involved and stop this from happening. I of course fully understand why we can't and what doing so would mean. I'm just saying I wish we could with out that happening.
