Let me tell you, we’re going through a tough little financial spot bc of switching jobs and lags in the first pay check. I’m soooo glad that I have extra powdered creamer, freeze dried coffee, and sugar. It tastes better than a lot of the cheaper ground coffees & it’s so nice to enjoy that daily even when we’re broke. It’s a real morale booster. We’ve sweetened kool aid and stuff like that for the kids and it is so nice to have there things - especially food and water. If it wasn’t for your channel I probably wouldn’t have any of the above.

Dear AGranny,
Your so funny alcohol is good to have in your “preps if you can stay out of it”. That cracked me up. 😂. Spices are another item if stored correctly can last a long time. Ty for laugh and info. Tale care.

Take the coffee out of plastic jars. Put in glass jars with good lid. The coffee will go bad in plastic jars mine did. Thank you for all you do!

Alcoholic beverages only keeps if it has a higher alcohol content. Gin, Rum, Vodka, Tequila, whiskey.

Things with sugar (Schnapps) or eggs (Kuhlua, etc) or lower alcohol content do not last as long. Drink these first!

When making a cuppa with instant coffee, try mixing equal amounts of instant coffee crystals and cold water in your mug, stir it to start the dissolving and then add the hot water. Learned that from a roommate and I don't know why but it seems to bring out the flavor more.

I also store powdered chicken bouillon. It may not last forever, even sealed in a canning jar, but I can’t imagine cooking many of my supplies without it.

I agree! Can’t live without coffee… good tip on putting tea bags in canning jars! Good tips as always 👍

Salt comes in 25 pound bags, a few of those are a wise investment.

I have used sugar in those 5 lb bags after 10 years of storage. Kept it dry, it still picked up a little humidity and hardened a bit on the top.. But it broke back down to granular, and was quite usable. I agree that putting it in a more sealed environment is best.

Try the Hershey's Special Dark cocoa powder. It is great!

Here in France, maplesyrup is quite a luxury. However, I try to set aside a little bottle every month, as honey, from the beefarmer, without added sugar. The same goes for the good oldfashioned Kikkoman soy sauce, now even available with less salt, but I stick to the classic version. And cornstarch, when you have a garden and fruit, makes great fruit sauces and desserts, helps thicken sauces and lasts for decades. I've set some pickeling salt aside, too. In case we would need to preserve some of the meat we have to hunt if necessary ( my companion has a hunting license)... and if we run out of the regular sea salt, it'll help seasoning quite as well. Much love from France and thank you for the reminder!

You know your stuff about honey! I go heavy on it because it's good for your health and lasts forever. I have a cup of warm water and honey every day.

I don’t drink alcohol at all but I had bronchitis several years ago and a pharmacist told me to get some “Rock and rye” whiskey to use as cough syrup. That was the only thing that stopped my cough and I sure did sleep well😂!

Thank you for another great video.. I'm thinking maybe add some hard candy for variety? Is that something that you can store long term; and if so how to do that?.. thank you again...

I've got all those, & I don't even eat Sugar, or like Whiskey. Lol. 🥃
I was once told that Honey that crystallizes is a good sign that it's Pure, & the Purer the Honey the longer it lasts.
TFS this important list.
Take care too everybody. ❤🙂🐶

Very sound advice, think of the things you know you need to get through and add to your preps. I am not much of a drinker but I think that is a great item to add to my preps. Thanks for sharing your knowledge
