AMD are just getting started baybee.

Don't forget the AMD Samsung partnership, if you think it's purely for Samsung to profit... you are wrong. AMD is going ARM.

Amazon has the Fire Tablet, Fire Stick, and they had a Fire Phone. They could make a Chromebook alternative that runs their software and runs their own Arm chips.

What I find interesting is that even Intel is using a hybrid architecture in their future Alder Lake chips. Its utilizing 8 high-performance cores and 4 power-saving cores, very similar to Apples M1X

Take a shot every time Austin ends a sentence with “right?”

The thing is, the ARM architecture isn't meant for power, it was never the focus, the point of ARM was to make RISC chips with the focus on efficiency and mobile use. Think of Arm as the scooter to smartcar, and X86 the family sedan to super/hypercar. Even in 10-15 years ARM will not get up to the raw power numbers of todays X86 CPU's. It will definitely get better, but AMD and Intel laptops will always be a thing, desktops will of course always use X86 will always be a thing. Where ARM really shines is mobile use, chromebook/netbook use, and tablets. THen you have apple with their custom ARM chips who are the outliers. The performance is good, but in terms of just raw power, it still doesn't beat X86 by a long shot.

It's kinda mad that only this year the deal with arm and nvidia has fell through I would of loved to see nvidia work with arm and make chips for their graphics cards it would be another competitor on the market with a huge background in gaming etc.

Your forgetting probably one of the biggest markets. Workplace pcs for the majority of businesses are x86 windows and will fit years. Especially with the majority of niche programs for specific industries 99 or of 100 times being exclusive to x86 pcs

Even though I own an iPad Air and owned an M1 Mac (returned - the chip is great but the ability to support multiple screens is way behind other makers). The best ARM device I got last year, was the Lenovo Ideapad Duet. That was powered by the MediaTek chip, a company you didn't mention.

AMD is working with Samsung on those chips too. I think AMD having a decent history in graphics allows them a bit more versatility than Intel as far as central CPUs but Intel has a lot of divisions from memory to networking etc. AMD probably benefits from being a smaller company since Intel needs to maintain that lead as a platform creator to keep things moving, where AMD can use other areas to maintain its smaller size more easily. Hopefully I worded that correctly lol.

not to mention that people are becoming more aware of the enviroment, so may want a more power efficient device

I feel like AMD has a chance if they do it right, especially with their acquisition of Xilinx. Xilinx uses a lot of custom ARM and proprietary IP core so AMD can easily move towards ARM in the future. Intel may be left in the dust but they still can still stay in markets such as memory/interface controllers, networking controllers, and enterprise stuff even if they get pushed out of the processor market. Nvidia might just be the next big Apple competitor in the processor market.

4:15 yes, you don't have a battery, but lower power consumption means less heat output, less heat output means you could very easily shove more power under the same cooling solution. If a 15W chip can outperform a 200+W overclocked i9, imagine what that 15W design could do with 150W, or 10 of those 15W chips running in parallel.

This shift may cost intel an ....arm... and a leg
