It's funny how so many Christians are eager to forgive someone who mistreated women because he's Christian and says he's sorry, while at the same they judge non-christians that are gay and/or are having consensual sex outside of marriage. I'm not saying it's all Christians who feel this way, but it's something I've noticed over the years.

I think I most people try to find god through organized religion when they should really get a therapist and find god through learning how to love and care for themselves. You can only be a good person by being good to yourself and healing what’s inside. Too often modern Christianity seeks to cover up instead of uncover and support.

Yet this "god that forgiven people" sometimes talk about I think might be their emotions and their odd cyclical need for brokenness to get them to change. People don't have to be unethical to realize they have to change they merely have to strive to do the best and witness the stories and hear from people who did wrong. The grief and loss in this life is imminent everyone dies, there is enough motivation to change and make the most of life without first doing miserable unethical hurtful reputation damage. When things go wrong doesn't bring people closer to healthy spirituality.
