Better Call Saul is the prequel to the award-winning series Breaking Bad, set six years before Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) became Walter White's lawyer. When we meet him, the man who will become Saul Goodman is known as Jimmy McGill, a small-time lawyer searching for his destiny, and, more immediately, hustling to make ends meet. Working alongside, and often against, Jimmy is "fixer" Mike Erhmantraut (Jonathan Banks), a beloved character introduced in Breaking Bad. The series will track Jimmy's transformation into Saul Goodman, the man who puts "criminal" in "criminal lawyer."

Are you telling me that an elevator just happens to break down like that? No! He orchestrated it! Jimmy!

That lady was so lucky that she stuck in an elevator with Kevin Costner.

Even Jimmy's more low-key cons are brilliant.

Jimmy took the "elevator pitch" to the next level.

Gotta love how people’s lives are decided over an elevator talk

In Breaking Bad I didn't realize how much of a genius Saul is

Jimmy's almost sarcastic pretending that it was an accident was just perfectly executed. He has these moments of brilliance where he plays the character almost like he's got an audience watching him.

You don't want a criminal lawyer, you want a 'criminal ' lawyer.

A conman with a law degree is almost as dangerous as a breakfast eater with cerebral palsy.

I think everyone is ignoring the fact the prosecutor was willing to play ball, this was as much benefit to her as it was to him, because she got months upon months of work done in the span of a single office visit

if you notice jimmy was talking to elevator guy while entering to tell him exactly when to stop the elevator, the moment elevator starts he said "i am going to lose you" hinting to halt it. These subtle things is what makes this a great show.

The best part is, by the end of it you can tell she's dropped some of the open hostility. She doesn't completely refuse his assertion that it was a pleasure, and she even waves to him on her way out. He didn't just con her, he fostered the beginnings of a somewhat amiable working relationship.
This show is a masterpiece.

The writing is genius. I love how they get her to answer the phone and introduce herself so we immediately understand her job.

He plays people like a fiddle in and out of the court room and he creates opportunity when there seemingly is none. Love watching this character work

This is the moment the elevator engineer broke bad. He later went on to make an elevator so pure that it went right up to the 99.1th floor.

My favorite part is that this was the same prosecutor handling Huell’s case, and told Kim he was a “disbarred, scumbag lawyer” and now she has to play ball with him.

Elevator comes back on, Jimmy looks at watch and remarks "20 minutes". He's thinking, "Wow, that guy is dependablel!"

He saved the courts and the clients a bunch of time and money...this isn't even a con, its a public service.

At 3:30 Saul says "fourteen months jail" and she says "sixteen." That seems only incrementally worse but could be significantly worse. Here in Florida, the max sentence you can still serve in a local county jail is twelve months. Beyond that, it's the state penitentiary, a place you don't want to go. A lot of people who can't make bail have already served a couple months in County awaiting their trial or outcome, which is taken into account. So a fourteen vs sixteen month sentence could mean the difference between jail and prison.
