Better Call Saul is the prequel to the award-winning series Breaking Bad, set six years before Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) became Walter White's lawyer. When we meet him, the man who will become Saul Goodman is known as Jimmy McGill, a small-time lawyer searching for his destiny, and, more immediately, hustling to make ends meet. Working alongside, and often against, Jimmy is "fixer" Mike Erhmantraut (Jonathan Banks), a beloved character introduced in Breaking Bad. The series will track Jimmy's transformation into Saul Goodman, the man who puts "criminal" in "criminal lawyer."

I hope Cliff was still alive when the truth about Howard came out. He really cared for him and deserves to know the truth

Are you telling me that Howard just happens to drive away like that? No! He orchestrated it! Jimmy!

Howard is damn clever, immediately putting Jimmy on the line as soon as he knew that the meeting was with Kim.

Honestly Cliff was a real one thoughout the show. Gave Jimmy a chance to make it in a legitimate firm despite his past and privately reached out to Howard and spoke to him as a concerned friend when he suspected drug abuse.

"Cliff, I know this wasn't easy for you, you came to me as a friend"

Howard have been in the Cliff shoes before. At the time when the canon aiming at Chuck and Howard came to him as friend.

...Howard knew that the canon aiming at him right now.

Imagine Cliff’s reaction to Jimmy’s confession learning that neither Chuck or Howard were crazy, AT THE SAME TIME

The look of anger, sadness, and resolve on poor Howard's face once Cliff mentions Kim is incredible, he's both impressed but not surprised by their machinations. Amazing actors, writing, everything.

Howard had a pretty good alibi for the woman-throwing. It would've really helped him I think if he'd have mentioned he was at his therapist when it happened.

If Kim had just come clean with Jim, not only would Howard still be alive but so would his reputation.

the actor playing cliff nailed the absolute obliviousness to the insinuation that Howard had a Jimmy McGill problem. “jimmy mcgill??? howard!!!

i think deep down howard is quite impressed when he hears Kim's name, like yeah he wants to prove himself but also thinking "ol charlie hustle at it again"

Alternate version of this scene:

Howard: If I may ask, Cliff, when did you see this happen?

Cliff: *says however long ago it was*

Howard: Cliff, it couldn't have been me. I was at my therapy session when it happened. Here's their number: they'll confirm I was at my session.

Can I just say that I am somewhat saddened that we never get to see Cliff reacting to the truth that Jimmy confesses?

Howard deserves to have his former friends and colleagues remember him as he was, not as the morally wrong man that Jimmy tried to make him

Notice how Howard clearing his schedule would reinforce the lie that he offed himself

I've noticed in this show is how hard everyone drives in it. From full on accelerating to hard breaks

If Cliff had seen Jimmy with a black eye the next day, it would have been very shocking for him.

All Howard had to do was just take a drug test. That would have exonerated him in the eyes of Clifford Davis.
