I never throw anything like plastics. I add cardboard all across the bottom of my beds. It helps keep the weeds down. I add branches, smaller sticks, then apply my dirt mixture. It works well.

Oh Clair I agree plastic pfoas, acids in the cardboard, sorry, stupid. If you want drainage, add a 2 inch layer of stones. And fill with top soil and potting soil to keep the soil soft. You need a goo's 12 inches of soil for plants to put down good roots.

Plastics under the soil??? Wow! You can then end up with microplastics already in some of your vegetables. This is an awful idea!
