We Think Pokemon Red, Blue and Yellow Will Return in 2026

Every Pokemon Day, fans wonder when we'll see Pokemon Red, Blue and Yellow return to Nintendo systems as part of Nintendo Switch Online or as part of some deluxe standalone package. Next year is the 30th anniversary of these original Pokemon games, and we think it makes perfect sense for the games to return as part of that celebration.

I personally would love it if Nintendo released red/blue/yellow in retail original packaging to make it look like the gameboy style packaging to celebrate the big anniversary in 2026 while containing a manual as well as a cartridge for the switch 2. Now that would be going out in style hardcore mode.

I gave up and just started playing them on my 3DS, far more comfortable than the switch handheld anyway.

I think one of the many reasons that The Pokémon Company won't re-release Red/Blue/Yellow is due to Pokémon Home compatibility.

They also probably want to milk nostalgia by doing proper remakes (not counting Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee) that incorporates many recent game mechanics in the new games. Hopefully.

would love to get every single handheld Pokémon game in a physical copy that would include game boy game boy, color, game, boy, advance, DS and 3DS. That would be very good. I wish that would happen.

If GB/GBA games are coming then they better have a fast forward feature because those battles really likes to drag. I think I'd rather get an HD 2D remake that's closer to the new Dragon Quest remake or Star Ocean.

Who knows? Maybe a new software by itself. Even though they're games from the GB, I feel like it wouldn't fit on the GameBoy software.

Between NSO or all in one package to buy I would choose, "all in one package buy on the eshop."

I enjoy replaying the gb, gbc, and gba Pokémon or games on the Analogue Pocket. 😊

Sidenote: Does anyone else enjoy playing the games on the Pocket or a original/modded Gameboy/other Gameboy iterations? 😃

A remake of like yellow, firered, leafgreen is what would be great but only if it was modernised gameplay for the switch or switch 2 is what I’m dreaming for because I’d buy it in a heartbeat if that was ever released

How do they freshen up RBY without making it too modern or not changing it enough? Nostalgia only carries it so far for me.

We need the GBA and DS games too. Since pokemon bank cant be downloaded anymore we dont have any way to transfer up old pokemon to home anymore unless you have a 3ds with it already downloaded. Its so sad to see them let these important games become endangered and left in a state where the multiplayer communication and connection these games were largely built upon is just completely inaccessable by official means even if you own original copies since servers are also gone forever. Pokemon games shouldnt just be abandoned for the new one. The new games will never be replacements for the old ones, so losing that to time because nintendo insists on gate keeping their games is so lame.

The only one you can claim to be an anniversary of is Red, but even that's a stretch if you include the English version
