Persian speed stat plus STAB slash is a nightmare for gen 1

Meowth becomes Persian, who is an absolute DEMON in Gen 1 thanks to how the battle system was coded. Giovanni's Persian in Stadium still gives 90s kids nightmares.

Theres the plus side of pokemon blue's game corner being cheaper.

Red's porygon being 9999 coins whereas blue's is 6500. (Other prices differ as well but porygons the only important one)

Oddish, sandshrew, meowth and magmar are better than their counterparts in those games. Persian is like one of the best mons in those games

Sandshrew and Sandslash are better than Ekans and Arbok. Poison is in itself a bad type simply by how it was made weak against ground and psychic. Also you never need poison, but you do need ground. And blue gives you good ground types when you need them. Until Blastoises learnes Earthquake, which is the best starter Pokémon in Gen 1.
