Rules and Explanations
Rules: (1) Only use the one Pokémon in Battle, others for HMs are fine. (2) No Items in battle (3) No Glitches* (4) Set Mode (5) No saving in the Elite Four (6) No evasion moves

*Badge Boost "Glitch" Explanation: When you collect odd numbered badges the game boosts a stat by 12.5%. Brock gives ATK, Surge DEF, Koga SPE, and Blaine SPC (in game text is wrong). When any of your stats are modified (even by you using a move like Withdraw, or your opponent using Leer) the badge boosts are re-applied. So If you use Swords Dance, you also gain *an additional* 12.5% in Speed/Defence/Special (on top of the 12.5% you were supposed to be getting). When you level up, the game corrects this error, and only the non-glitch 12.5% remains. Because of how difficult it is to avoid, I've allowed for it to be exploited, since opponents will spam Leer/Growl anyways, and this way battles are less random. Red/Blue are extremely buggy, so there's always going to be *some* glitches present, and because of how unavoidable this one is, it is allowed in runs, and considered more like a special Generation 1 mechanic as opposed to a glitch.

A gen 1 Farfetch'd not named Dux is the most unbelievable aspect of this run

Protip: if your Gen 1 moveset is rocking two or more boosting moves, remember that they each reset their affected stat's badge boost to the normal +12.5%. In other words, using Swords Dance will cancel the extra ATK badge boost from all prior uses of Agility, and vice versa. Don't alternate if you can help it, and boost the stat you want to be the absolute highest first.

Moltres waiting in Victory Road calling itself a legendary bird when the real legendary bird was waiting in Vermilion City the whole time.

I love to see DUX sweep through the whole game with some simple setup. It's ironic that crits were the lose condition here considering what game freak would go on to make Farfetch'd focus on right after by introducing the Stick.

Farfetch'd beating Tauros is something else, really shows you what a pokemon can achieve with good moves

The funny thing is that farfetch'ds low base speed actually helps it not crit as often to benefit more from swords dance in gen 1 lol

Arcanine is based on the mythical Chinese lion-dogs. You can see their statues guarding temples. That's why Arcanine is called the "legendary" pokemon.

The Japanese word for "roar" ほえる actually signifies just a loud animal sound and would also include things such as barking or howling. In fact, the most commonly used kanji is 吠える which, features the character for "mouth" next to the character for "dog". This is just something lost in translation.

i used Farfetch'd back when the game came out and quickly learned how insanely powerful it can get thanks to SD and Agility. Used it again in Gen 2 and swept most of the E4 with SD and Fury Cutter. I love this little duck so much.

I always liked Farfetch'd's look and wanted to use it. After watching this, I'll use it on my next gen 1 run

“Strong Pokémon. Weak Pokémon. That is only the selfish perception of people. Truly skilled trainers should try to win with their favorites. I like your style. You understand what’s important.”

I don’t know what I love more: how non-clickbait your title was or the song reference in the trainer + rival names

I love the color scheme this time around, the dark green for the overworld sprites with the yellow looks so amazing!

By using Swords Dance and Agility you technically get two moves that contribute to the badge boost glitch.

This run reminds of back when I used to do Pokemon Emerald solo runs, as Zangoose is great for the same reason that Farfetch'd is. Like Farfetch'd, it gets Swords Dance early, except imagine Farfetch'd with Physical Ghost and Fighting coverage and much better Attack and Speed. Seriously, Zangoose is a beast.
