Steve answers a caller's question on the September 24, 2024 broadcast of The Narrow Path.
God is Just & All Sin is Equal: If God is just, is all sin due equal punishment (liars and murderers)? How did this concept/ theology develop in evangelicalism? [Luke 12:47-48, James 2:10-20].

I would add that
1) Jesus said Judas had the GREATER SIN. (John 19:11)
2) Jesus taught that some would receive few blows in hell and some would receive many, based on what they had done. (Luke 12:47)
3) Jesus taught that some would have worse punishment than Sodom and Gomorrah (Matthew 10:15) as well as Tyre and Sidon (Matthew 11:22).
4) God commanded the death penalty for some crimes, restitution for others, beatings for others.

Both are true.
The very smallest sin would require a plan of salvation. So small sins remind us we have no reason to be self-righteous.
The second is also true.
Look at different punishments for different sins in the law of Moses

All sin is sin. But some sins hurt others more than others.

For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.

truly one of the dumbest doctrines to come in recent history ... "all sin is equal". It's just so laughable that God ensured we had Jesus Himself say it in the Gospels we have in our scriptures.
