Live from the Lab: The Gritty Details of Texture Analysis

Texture analysis involves the measurement of the crystallographic distribution of crystallites within a material. Optimization of the texture of a material for a specific purpose can be accomplished by adjusting processing leading to performance enhancement.

In this episode of Live from the Lab we will build on our previous texture episode by digging deeper into texture analysis including 2D diffraction, iso- vs side-inclination measurements and spherical harmonic vs component analysis. As always, we will take your questions live at the end of the episode!

Great lab session! I want to ask how much the iso-inclination will interfere the measurements if the sample surface is not flat? If the sample has a dome shape on the top, will the iso-inclination be a bad measurement type for texture? What you would suggest if we can only perform iso-inclination but still want to perform texture measurements? Thanks.
