Tbh Im kinda glad mozilla did this even though it would be less privacy friendly than purchasing it directly from mullvad, its still a lot more privacy friendly than purchasing another vpn provider and it helps both companies greatly, It gives mullvad more reach since they basically have no advertising at all and it gives mozilla some extra cash to keep their projects like firefox going without needing so much support from google

Mullvad + Wireguard = a fast secure VPN. This VPN is anonymous (but a VPN is for privacy, not anonymity.) For anonymity, use Tor - or better use Whonix on qubes-os.

As a person who works in the IT field 90% of people dont even need a VPN anyway, unless youre geoblocked or trying to torrent. And maybe for a few other reasons. Most VPN ads heavily exaggerate the threats of everyday use of computers to scare you into buying their product. The average joe with basic knowledge of how to not get clapped by malicious people online doesnt need a vpn at all for general computer usage. VPN companys prey on scaring you into their arms.

Well, perhaps if you live in a country where citizens' privacy rights are at least somewhat secured, you can say that there is no difference between ISP and VPN provider. But in certain countries ISPs will spy on you no matter what, whereas VPN providers literally make money & reputation on not spying on you. They often deny government requests to hand over the personal data, especially if a country is an international pariah. But even if they do hand over your data to the "law enforcement", it still would happen only by a police request, in which case you are probably screwed anyhow
