Surface Duo 2 Worst Phone 2021?

The Microsoft Surface Duo 2 is probably the most misunderstood phone of 2021, but it's definitely not the worst phone, most disappointing phone, or biggest bust of 2021. Many of the criticisms surrounding this phone are largely due to the fact that many people who "reviewed" the phone, are not the target audience, and the phone "isn't for them", as many admit. So many people look at the Surface Duo 2 the same way as they do an iPhone or a Samsung phone, and that just isn't the right standard for testing and evaluating the phone, much less reviewing it. The Surface Duo 2 is a top-notch phone that is expensive, but to people who want the phone and understand the value in it's multitasking and productivity, the phone is usually worth it and many people love the Duo 2.

I had this phone twice, and loved it both times. The only reason I took it back is because I had buyer's remorse over the price. I'm not even the targeted demographic for this phone, but I look at the big picture. I feel this phone earns its price tag more than the Z Fold 3 (yes I've owned that one as well). People criticize the phone because they don't get it! The thing that I didn't like about the MKBHD video is that he criticized them for giving what he wanted...the camera bump! This is one of those cases where the statement "be careful what you wish for" rings true, he/everyone asked for better cameras and they gave them to us, and now he wants to complain about that. This thing was massively improved over last years phone, no clue how he can say it's worse. Anyways, I always enjoy your videos. Merry Christmas!

Well said. Over the years I have watched fame go to MKBHD's head and he no longer gives the proper time to devices that don't interest him or his needs. A bad direction to go for those who do phone reviews.

Great video as always. That Marques Brownlee guy is an apple fan boy and didn't use the device long enough to review it honestly. I think the price is fine (£1300) in the UK. I use it all day everyday for everything so it's well worth it .

Agreed Adam, I love my microsoft Duo 2 - in fact it's my go to YouTube device, because I can fall asleep in bed without dropping it. Without being rude to the guy, I wonder if he's influenced financially by other mobile competitors. However, I would imagine his young followers would find the Duo 2 slightly too intelligent to meet their needs. Oh and Merry Christmas to you and your family! 🎄

MKBHD calling out the Duo 2 like he did did is short sighted. It makes me think of your average iPhone user calling out an ASUS ROG phone because it's camera isn't great and saying that it's not worth purchasing. That phone has a core audience and it tries to deliver what that audience cares about. It doesn't try to appeal to the masses and neither does the Duo 2.

That's why I watch you and Mr mobile, you continue to use most of the phones months after to continue to show the pros and cons, and improvements of course. Mr mobile said the same thing you said about pre release software and also committed to re reviewing it later. Thanks to y'all I got my fold 3 it just suited what I like a bit better however getting 120hz on the duo may be the final thing for me to get one

I like your honest Duo reviews the most (the others seem biased). So heads up: I'm not sure what's going on... but I just ordered the Otterbox Riverter Case about 30 seconds ago. The ETA is next week. The rumor was they were not going to be released until Nov.?

I agree MKBHD should have done a follow up video after the updates. Who knows maybe his plan is to do another video for more views and give it a liking. I personally love my first gen Duo especially when the price dropped. It is a very good second device for multi-tasking and I am patiently waiting for android 11.

Totally agree. The Duo 2 is a huge improvement on the original, and is starting to come together as a real world useable device. It's a great device. Sure, lots of room for hardware and software improvements, and I'm looking forward to accompying Microsoft on the Duo journey

Great video. I saw the MKBHD video and agree with your rebuttal (though admittedly I don’t own the MS SD2). I’ve been following this device since it’s inception and I love the improvements Microsoft made to the 2nd Gen. I really want to purchase this phone, but my family is currently on a single income (thank you Covid-19) and I just can’t justify making the purchase especially with rising costs on everything else. Like some of the other reviewers, I’m hoping maybe the price will come down and I’ll then be able to experience this awesome device.

Agree 100%. Most of the people that review this phone don't have the use case for it. If you need an amazing business device this is it. I still have the original stuck on Android 10 but using it has seriously made me consider picking up the 2. The usefulness of 2 screens was not obvious to me at first, (you know I love my ZFolds lol) but there are certain things the duo just does better with 2 screens. Just wish Microsoft paid more attention to their phones, but as we all know though they never really have lol. Great take on this.

It's very interesting to watch his OG Duo review video and then watch his review on SD2. It seems like Samsung is paying him to bash SD2 hard.
