Don't Judge The Microsoft Surface Duo 2 By It's Cover!

The Microsoft Surface Duo 2 is finally here and a lot of people want to see a Microsoft Surface Duo 2 review to find out if it's the right phone for them or if the Surface Duo 2 is better than the original Microsoft Surface Duo, or if anything improved substantially. However, I have seen some Surface Duo 2 review videos and they are clearly biased against it, would never use the Surface Duo 2, or don't understand the people who would want the device and they try to look at it like an iPhone 13 Pro or a Samsung Z Flip 3 or Z Fold 3, and miss the mark when trying to be objective and evaluate the Duo 2.

I love this perspective. This is NOT a phone. It's a productivity device. To me it fits as a primary device because I don't do many phone calls, but im in and out of teams or zoom meetings all day long. And i would mostly need to have a presentation along my meetings. Multitasking is a huge factor in my life and this device seems able to fill up my needs. I dont even think it's missing anything i would need from a typical phone. But as you said its all about the use case scenarios

I'm a z fold 3 user and loving it but I enjoy all your coverage of different devices.

This video alone could fight against all the mainstream opinions.

I appreciate your perspective on this. I'm a huge BlackBerry fan and the Duo line are the first devices to give me BlackBerry Passport vibes which is still one of my favorite devices ever. I passed on the original Duo due to the issues and price but told myself I'd get the second generation. Here we are and I'm replying to this video on my Duo 2.

I also have an iPhone and I'm unsure if it will become my primary personal device, but it is definitely going to become my primary work device. I work IT for a school district and the multitasking capabilities alone are going to be a game changer for me.

One reason I prefer this over the Fold 3 is BECAUSE of the screen gap. I prefer two distinct screens over one wide screen. Same reason I prefer a dual monitor setup over an ultra wide curved monitor.

Anyway, thanks for the level-headed look at this device. I'm a new subscriber and look forward to more of your videos.

I miss the good Blackberry days, TechOdyssey! I like your videos. I made some with Blackberry and the Titan even. Though technology has advanced, nothing beats typing your thoughts in seconds on a physical keyboard. Many moved over. Crackberry is crickets now. Forums, too. Let’s cross fingers for a new toy. Great channel!

Respect to you bro for responding to all the negative reviews. I've noticed the main tech reviewers on give Samsung and Apple good reviews. They judge them completely different than every other phone. For example they talked so bad about the pixel for having a notch but it's 2021 and the iPhone still has it and absolutely no complaints.

Your so unbiased for someone who uses iPhone and other gadgets. Your views are excellent on the Duo 2 and Duo. Spot on in fact on both devices. I have a Duo 1 and Fold2 and love the Duo for almost everything apart from calls and really quick things. I don't call or take many photos but do multi task almost all of the time so the Duo form is perfect for me. I wish the software was as smooth as the Fold series though. I feel the problem for Microsoft is actually the Youtubers like Marques Brownlee with Millions of followers and are huge apple fan boys that will give bad reviews on this after owning for 1 hr.

I have the Surface Duo and it's a business productivity device. Duo 2 on order. You're right in your assessment.

Excellent!!!

Tech reviewers / "influencers" looking at this version remind me of how much they all hated the OG Galaxy Fold. We purchased it anyway because it was what we were looking for. As we've patiently waited to upgrade from our OG Folds our needs have changed to wanting a "device" closer to the "tablet/thin client/cell phone" direction of technology. Now that the Fold 3 and Duo 2 specs are at a draw we have ordered the Duo 2. The front screen concerns?? lol! Um that's what I bought a smartwatch for. Technology better catch up because our soon to be updated Galaxy Watch 4s will be used for just that.

I've always thought Outlook should be able to split mail/calendar functions side by side. My guess is that this device can do that. If it extends that functionality so you can have any combination of Outlook (mail/calendar), To Do, Notes and Edge on side by side panels, then it sounds like a productivity monster. I'm looking forward to your more in depth review Adam. Thanks for putting the device in perspective.

The only reviewer who was able to break down what this device was made to do. I watched the MK dude and he literally said he haven't had much time with the device and really missed the mark. I enjoyed the original duo and like that design better But this duo 2 has not given me any issue and it's fast and responsive and to be honest the only thing that drew me away from the duo was that keyboard and they fixed that so I think this is a great device and like you said it's a companion device for multitssking and it's different. When I had the original duo I had everyone who saw this device in person ready to buy

Well said Tech Odyssey. A lot of YouTubers must approach reviews like you.

Fantastic video and great observations. You’re so right, how can a typical tech reviewer assess a device they’d never use? So there’s no way they’re impartial either by design or by accident.

Great video...absolutely spot on. I bought the 512 gb Duo 2 (almost $2k after tax) and am working towards making it my daily driver. Using my phone to call someone is one of the less frequent things I do with my phone. Being connected to my office and being able to work anywhere is the primary function of any phone I use and the Duo, hands down, blows every other phone in the market away in this respect. I can see leaving my 5 lbs Dell XPS 17 at home on my next business trip and doing my work on the road solely with my Duo 2.

I really enjoy your videos, I had the z flip 3 but had to return it because I am a power user. I may be in the unique subset of people looking for a device more like this. Basically if you already own a note, which I do, this device will be very appealing.

Another great video. Honesty and your point of view felt unbiased. thats a good thing. I am iphone user but was alway intrigued with this device and it previous but out of my usage range and i couldn't use it at work by virtue of working at a competing co. But love watch people enjoying this device and the fold of course. I'm green with envy. Thanks for all you do!

I think Microsoft got this product 90% right from a hardware point of view. they do need either a small screen on the front cover so you can see who is calling and answer or a button that you can map to answer your call without opening it. Honestly, it is 2021, and who still holds a phone up to their ear anymore. All of the wireless headsets out there it does just not seem to be that big an issue. The only other thing I could think of changing is the bump but I am torn do I want to have a small gap when the phone is folded or do I want to have an indent on the back of the phone where the camera tucks into... Finally, my last hope is that Microsoft does not bail out on updates again to solve the software issues.

I am looking at this for work as we are a full Surface shop and the new slim pen that can be used on here and on the Surface Pro 8's is already a massive win. The old pens with the fragile nibs just drive me nuts. I want to use the full office365 suite with Teams and access to a PDF viewer to take notes and photos. Also to be able to 2FA all the business apps. I cannot wait to get one for testing.
