This is why Chongqing was always the last stronghold when each dynasty fell...
The enemy couldn't figure it out.

Coming from small town New Zealand, this is a real eye-opener. Most buildings close to were i live are 5 storeys max. If i were to visit this city, i would have the extreme version of culture shock. Thank you for sharing

A lot of Youtube channels have already shown the monorail through a residential area and a 20-story public square. But the bus lane in the sky is a new one for me 😮

That gives me post apocalyptic vibes where humans survive

In the most respectful way, this is horrifying

Chongqing is legit one of those cities that feel more like a video game world than any city I've ever visited in Asia. An absolute spectacle, and fantastic food

This is where your Chinese parents went to school 8 miles a day by foot both ways uphill. They never lie.

Seriously thanks for sharing. A very honest view of a Chinese city.

That's a level of human density I didn't know existed!

I feel like there needs to be context, Chongqing is on a mountain hence why there are all these elevated roads, different stories of buildings and different layers. It's just infrastructure adapting to the fact that the city isn't on even ground like you would typically think of a city.

That is kinda awesome. But it really makes me appreciate where I live. A deep blue sky, rarely a cloud. Just mountains around a valley that I can see almost all the time.

There are some emazing architectural things happening in ChongGqing China. It's astonishing to see. But it does also make me appreciate being able to walk to the ground floor of my building and touch the grass, and see the trees up close.

Can walk around without touching the ground floor ever

As I got older I started to develop a fear of heights. That coupled with my dislike of crowds, cramped spaces, city life, noise, and (lmao) dystopian vibes makes this infrastructural set up feel like my personal nightmare. I understand that it’s built into a mountain but the idea that you can go an entire day’s commute without ever touching the ground is insane.

Wow. Suddenly I appreciate my parents decision to buy that home in a very small town. It has soooo much greenery and the stars!

Oh my! I could never! For a person with fear of heights and claustrophobia, this seems like a nightmare
