American Reacts to Why Queen Elizabeth is a BADASS

I've reacted to several videos explaining all of the duties and perks of being a part of UK royalty, but I certainly have never reacted to why Queen Elizabeth could be a certified badass! I am very excited to react and learn about this particular topic from an American's point of view, and genuinely wonder if the very unassuming queen could actually be the opposite of what her American image has lead me to believe. Her daughter, Princess Anne, when someone tried to kidnap her was asked to leave her car She answered "Not bloody likely." Definitely her mother's daughter.

There's a famous story of a humanitarian and war surgeon, David Knott, who was invited to lunch with the Queen after returning from Syria. He was suffering from PTSD, and at one moment, became overcome with emotion. Sensing this, the Queen touched his hand, and instead of asking him anymore questions, opened a tin of dog biscuits so he could feed her corgis and talk about that instead. She even said "There, that's much better than talking, isn't it." Legend.

I love what she said when she met Putin.
That´s badass and witty and sharp.
Putin made her wait for about 15 min and when he finally arrived a dog that was present (someone else´s) started barking. So the owner of the dog started apologizing to her and she remarked something like "dogs have some interesting instincts, don´t they?".

When she told Martin McGuinness "I'm still alive" that was so much more than her referring to her age; He was a leader of the IRA, who tried to assassinate her on multiple occasions. There's no way that wasn't a subtle dig at him. _Badass._

I did laugh slightly when you said you didn't know she'd been involved with the military. For the last 70 years she's been our Commander-in-Chief!

Her Majesty passed away this month aged 96. She was still doing her duty of public engagements 2 DAYS before she died. Amazing woman.

Her Majesty took the King of Saudi Arabia for tour of her Balmoral Estate. He was one of the first in the car, sitting waiting for the Queen and chauffeur, Her Majesty turned up and got into the driving seat.( The women in Saudi Arabia are forbidden drive cars). I believe he asked her to slow down at one point. The women in Saudi Arabia are now allowed to drive. She has done a lot, in a quiet way that most of us don't realise.

the story about The Queen and the King of Saudi Arabia is great. She took him on a drive (women being banned from driving in Saudi Arabia) and apparently went at break neck speeds down the private lanes of the estate. How to make the point that women being incapable of driving is utter shite

Her mother lived to be 101. The James Bond bit is good but for the Platinum Jubilee she topped that by having tea with Paddington Bear. Look it up. As a mechanic, she was able to diagnose problems with her vehicles as she was driving them. Once she called for assistance when she at a distant point on an estate telling the man what parts to bring. When he was surprised that she was correct she reminded him of her wartime service. There are many more stories about our glorious Queen.

The Queen's mother-in-law (Prince Phillip's mother), Princess Alice, was pretty bad ass too. While she was married to Prince Andrew of Greece, she served as a nurse in the Balkan War before WWI. After the Greek royal family were kicked out if Greece and fled to France, she helped to run a charity shop for Greek refugees near Paris. Later on, she was committed to a mental institution for years. Prince Phillip did not see his mother from the time he was about 7 until he was about 18. During WWII, Princess Alice went back to Greece and hid a Jewish family in her house and saved their lives. She was very deaf and when the Germans demanded to search the house, she pretended she couldn't understand what they were saying. During fighting in Athens, she walked the streets giving food to children. After the war, she founded a religious order, became a nun and dedicated herself to helping the poor in Greece. You can see her in photos of the Queen's coronation, walking out of the abbey dressed in nun's robes. When there was another revolution in Greece, she was persuaded to go back to England and live in Buckingham Palace. After she died, the Israeli government agreed to her wish to be buried on the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem and recognised her as one of the "righteous among nations".

She has a wicked sense of humour. Once when out on the estate in Balmoral with just a single royal police guard they came across an American couple walking the grounds. She was wearing a plain coat and headscarf so the couple didn't recognise her. They stopped and during the conversation one American turned and said 'have you ever met the Queen, i believe she has a house near here. Quick as a flash she pointed to her police guard and said 'No I haven't but he has'.

Martin McGuinness was a leading member of the IRA - who killed the Queen's own relative, Lord Mountbatten "the Last Viceroy of India", so she is being doubly ironic in her comment to him.

The sheer fact that she shook hands with him was groundbreaking politics at the time!

As someone already said here, she wasn't only "helping out", driving an ambulance and doing what she did wasn't at all without danger. That part of England was constantly bombed, and even though it was encouraged that the Royal Family should move out from harm's way, they decided to stay amongst their people. The blitz was tough, you should really watch a reaction video about it.

She has also done so much badass things more that I would hope would have been on this list. She has handled political, national and international crisis, she has handled leaders and dictators, she is really fierce, smart and a master of diplomacy. They're are sup many REAL badass stories I wish was on this list instead! I'm Swedish, we have our own Queen but Queen Elizabeth II will always be THE Queen for me. She's a true inspiration!

Fun fact. Years ago the Queen visited the set of Game of Thrones. The crew asked if they could get a photo of her sitting on the Iron Throne but she refused. There is a law, saying that the British Monarch can't sit on any other Throne besides the Brittish one, real or fictional.

I can assure you corgis are vicious dogs when in a bad mood. My mother, who was a WAAF nurse, met the Princess Elizabeth when she was an ambulance driver. From what my mother said, she was not getting special treatment. The Princess was being treated the same as any of the other ambulance drivers. A friend used to work on the Queen's estate at Balmoral and she states that the Queen in an excellent shot with a variety of guns.

Just came across this today… Our (late) Queen literally died doing her duty (8th September 2022) I’m not a royalist myself BUT I did admire Queen Elizabeth. At the age of 96 she put MANY of us (younger generations) to shame. There will be no other like her. I hope she’s at peace with her beloved husband ♥️
