The best thing about the monarchy is that it prevents someone else taking the job.

The Queen is the only person the British public would trust with such power because she would not abuse it

She has a HELL of a lot of power

She VERY VERY rarely uses any of it

She has the power to do everything stated in the video, but chooses not to for obvious reasons.

The last monarch that went against parliament was beheaded. Whilst technically she has power, any attempt to use it would be the end of the monarchy, unless she had massive public support. Most of the European monarchies are gone because they didn't move with the times, ours did. A constitutional monarchy is symbolic and ceremonial only, but at times of national disaster it's the monarchy who steps up and that's why they're loved and trusted so much...

Only twice in my life have I sworn a oath, once to my wife on our wedding day and to the Queen when I joined the army and both are still respected and held.

As a head of state she has diplomatic immunity in every country where she’s not head of state. And in countries where she is head of state, she is above the law. So she can do anything anywhere.

The strength of the monarchy does not lie in the power it gives the sovereign but in the power it denies to anyone else

Her Majesty plays down her powers for the benefit of public opinion, but she is the ultimate power of the United Kingdom and is not just a figurehead.

I'm ex military and swore an oath to the Queen and her successors. I have utmost respect for her even now as a veteran.

She has that authority so that nobody else has it. Their is always somebody at the top; better having somebody non-political who everyone trusts not to use that power honestly.

definitely has power over the armed forces and anything she says to do with them goes. the first thing we do when we join is swear allegiance to her and all of the officers above us so parliament cant do anything to stop her when it comes to the army

She has the power. She is affectionately known in the armed forces as the boss.
Every one who joins swears an oath of allegiance to her.

Whoever told you that The Queen has no power obviously has no idea what they are talking about. She has absolute power but chooses not to use it. Also, of course she knew that she was in this for her whole life. She took her vow and has stuck to it

Our PM has weekly meetings with the Queen, she signs all laws enacted by Government. We are a democracy, so she upholds our right to choose who governs us. When he talked about maritime rights, that is managed by the Crown estates. Our system is very complex, we have no written constitution, as its an ongoing system, not the views of a group of people who held power, at a point in time. In Parliament there are two Houses the Commons (elected) and the Lords, appointed. It is a complex state that works well, we did have King George III who went mad, during the USA independence, so it can have consequences. Happy being a subject. Not happy that Harry goes public when his grandfather ill in hospital, no one seems to mention that fact.
