Check out the new Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV!

The Outlander PHEV features a 2.4L MIVEC 4-cylinder Atkinson cycle gasoline engine, 56L (14.8 gal) fuel tank, and enhancements to increase efficiency and range, the Outlander PHEV will offer a combined range (electric-petrol) of up to 687 km on a single charge and a single tank of fuel.

The Outlander PHEV has Mitsubishi Motors' next-generation twin-motor Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC). This system uses the front electric motor to drive the front wheels (and gasoline engine if necessary), and a rear-mounted self-contained motor to drive the rear axle. Both electric motors are more powerful than the previous ones: 114 horsepower in the front and 134 in the rear, bringing the output of the combined system to 248 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque.

Using the built-in DC fast-charging station, the battery pack can recharge to 80% capacity in just 38 minutes. The Outlander PHEV is the only plug-in hybrid electric SUV to offer such rapid charging capabilities. It is also possible to charge the vehicle from a wall-mounted level 1 or 2 charging station or through the internal combustion engine, using the charging mode with the vehicle running or parked.

On paper, the 20 kWh battery offers an electric range of 61 km and a total range of up to 687 km. Is that true? Find out in our full review of the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV!

I feel the other man is so bias against this car. It is subjective and depend on your taste and needs. In my case I own this car for more than a month now and love it. As Asian, the 3rd row is very useful for us. We went to camping (7 people) and conveniently drove 340 km. For a total of 2000km, my average usage is 1.4L/100km though 80% in EV mode and majority in urban road. No regrets paying a little bit extra for a luxurious EV like ride and handling. I cannot find any AWD SUV PHEV with 7 people capacity at this price in Australia.

When you precondition the car while plugged into a level 2 charger, where does the car take power from ? Will it take power from battery or from the power outlet ?

Can you use charge mode while charging level 1 or 2 to speed up the charge?

G'day it's Steven from Down Under

Hmm, an interesting review and quite different to most other reviews, this may be due to bias and or inexperience.

I'm assuming this is a Canada based YouTuber, it was my understanding that there is little difference between your models and the one's available here in Australia.

The third row seat is clearly for children, also people don't just purchase PHEV's to save on fuel alone, that want to save the planet too, and cutting edge technology initially always costs more.

This is an All Wheel Drive Vehicle and not a Four Wheel Drive vehicle like Pajero/Montero, and it certainly is very capable considering its intended use, let's not forget Mitsubishi's is of rally winning heritage and that knowledge has been applied here.

Comparisons to the Rogue are understandable considering the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance where all manufacturers are sharing costs and technologies, however the fact remains that this is a Mitsubishi designed PHEV with some Nissan input.

The new generation Triton ute or truck as Northern Americans call it, is due for release in coming months and in this case Mitsubishi will be the lead manufacturer with this shared platform.

I think that's all I'll say and I won't be returning to this YouTube site again, and No I do not own a stunning new Outlander PHEV, though I have spent quite a lot of time in one both in the city and outback and it never ceases to amaze me what a beautiful and brilliant vehicle it is.

Good bye and congratulations to all the owners of this excellent Mitsubishi Outlander.

I suggest you view other more professional YouTube channels.

It's a good car, better than the previous one. Pricing has gone up, but hey... Tesla seem to be the only guys who actually dropped their prices in the last year.

Correction: the 20kw battery is larger than the previous generation, not smaller.
