✅Ingredients

Option 1: Lemon Juice + Milk
• 1 tablespoon lemon juice
• 1 cup milk (or non-dairy alternative milk)

Option 2: White Vinegar + Milk
• 1 tablespoon white vinegar
• 1 cup milk (or non-dairy alternative milk)

Option 3: Cream of Tarter + Milk
• 1 3/4 teaspoons cream of tarter
• 1 cup milk (or non-dairy alternative milk)

Option 4: Sour Cream + Milk
• 3/4 cup sour cream
• 1/4 cup milk

✅Instructions

For Options 1 through 3
1️⃣ Simply stir ingredients together and let stand 5 minutes before using in any recipe calling for buttermilk. Be sure to make the appropriate measurement scaling adjustments needed for the amount of buttermilk called for in the recipe.

For Option 4
1️⃣ Whisk sour cream with milk until combined. Use in any recipe calling for buttermilk.

Recipe Notes:
Plain yogurt can be used as a direct replacement for buttermilk.
Non-dairy milk can be used in place of regular milk in options 1 through 3.

Tbh this is helpful and it can help save money as buttermilk is annoying to have on hand as it expires quickly and I only use so much for cakes

Great substitutes I only knew of two. Instead of removing 1 tablespoon at the end can the lemon juice or vinegar be added to the cup before adding the milk? Measure the lemon juice or vinegar and then add milk to one cup line. This way you would account for the additional tablespoon of liquid.

I usually use half and half and hot sauce for chicken. The vinegar in the hot sauce works good enough. Never heard of the cream of tartar method. I'll havta give it a go.

I knew before what to use to replace the buttermilk but with cream of tartar that I didn't know, as well as sour cream and milk... wow! so thanks, that's more ingredients to replace for make my buttermilk...have a good week!
