Prof Simon Turner on social competence in livestock

Professor Simon Turner and his team at Easter Howgate farm are researching whether social competence exists in livestock. They're looking at the different behaviours that contribute to it, and if these affect the animal’s performance and welfare as it gets older. In this video, Simon introduces the concept of social competence in pigs, and how staff at the farm are investigating the pigs' behaviour.
