MUST-HAVE Video Editing Gear: AKG K240 Studio Headphones

This video is a review of the AKG K240 Studio headphones. I personally think that the AKG K240 Studio headphones are the best headphones for video editing under $100, even though I know a lot of people who would disagree with me. Still, I think once you try the AKG K240 Studio headphones, you'll be inclined to agree with me.

Dear reader, I was in your place, looking at comments. I hesitate but decided to buy these headphones. I can say next: sound is clear, open 'n' wide, bass is not weak and yet detailed. Has feel/hear of soundstage. I would recommend it ONLY if you DON'T listen to new age Hip Hip, R'n'B. If you listen only new age Hip Hip, R'n'B, buy Dr.Dre, Beats whatever (they are hardwired to produce big punch of bass and drums to compensate for bad mixed song (if you are offended, you should be)). I don't understand why people are bashing these headphones on YouTube only. Same for Fender Mustang GT-100, everyone is bashing, but they didn't test it. I bought that too, best investment for guitar sound so far for best price, yes it can CHUGG.

You are the first person besides myself that I found that uses these for video editing and music production ... I've had them since 2006 and they are still awesome. And so affordable! (When I was a kid in the 90s I volunteered as a live sound technician and they had a pair of those too)

I had a pair that I purchased back in 1986 or 87 that lasted me two decades. I got a short in the wire and was really bummed. But I liked them so much that I searched the internet and immediately turned around and purchased the new version of them. AKG has addressed my only problem with the headphones. They now have a replaceable wire so, if it shorts out again it can be replaced without buying a whole new headset. They also upgraded them so I can run them off my iPhone. I absolutely love these things. They are so comfortable I literally forget they’re on. I can use them for hours, watching movies with them, listening to music and podcasts etc. They are worth every penny. the only caveat is that your ears can get very warm inside them I replaced the ear pad covers with a felt type one that is softer and breathes a little better and doesn’t get sweaty and sticky. They’re made by a company called cosmos. Found em on eBay.

I just order these along with the Focusrite Scarlette 2i2. I mainly work with video editing for an ad agency and hope to utilize these tools for getting better audio quality out of my videos. Thanks for a great review.

I got a high end Sony set. My Monitors are ok, I do all final run monitors. Sis got me these, love em. Actually more go to then my other headphones.

Incredibly helpful video. We have basically the same work environment so this is good to hear. I was also using blutooth headphones that sounded good, but had all the extra signal processing built in, so it was time to get a new set. Yes, studio monitors would be great, but working from home at 3 am on that last part of the song, you're glad to have the decent headphones.

Ha ha ha Great video! I was looking around for some new stuff about headphones and I clicked on your video.. A bit disappointed with some new (Even high quality and higher price). I worked in studio for years and years. I had that cool K240 (Not only one), also the famous Beyerdynamic DT150. But strangely, I come back with this fantastic AKG. So, I bought two now and surely, they will "stay & work" with us for a long period. Thanks a lot.. These headphones are on my Christmas wish list this year. Along with a Boss Katana 50 Mk 2. My Marshall have stack's power button feel the fuck off and it's very worn from years of traveling and playing live. I'm not in a band right now so I don't really need a 100 watt Jet engine half stack so the Boss Katana seems like the perfect safety net for the day my Marshall completely craps out. Plus having something quieter to practice with would be nice.

I really appreciate this video. I already have two pairs of headphones that I use for everything (listening, casual audio editing) and I was torn between these and a pair of Audio Technica ATH-M40X’s and these just went up higher on my buy list. I’m on a budget and as long as it works for me and it’s in my budget ($100-300) I’ll go for it.

I get mine like 10 years ago, they are long lasting, I just listen music at nights with them, they work fine with every device, but they sound super ultra awesome with a creative soundblaster pc audio card or propper headphone amps. Im not shure if I really need the AKG K702 to "upgrade" my headphones
