Feed Raw Rabbit Prey Model Raw (PMR) Diet

Many of us feed raw looking at both BARF or Prey Model raw feed (Prey Model is also called PMR for short which include both franken prey as parts of the prey and whole prey model). Prey model foods that we commonly feed are whole rabbits, chicken, goats, venison, and lamb. They have their differences but the ratio is similar which I believe is the most important factor to keep in mind when practicing raw feed. Most vets do not recommend raw feed in my area for safety reasons. One of the vet I spoke to was convinced I was doing all right with my raw feeds he opened up and and asked what I feed my dogs. Among all the raw feed I mentioned he highly recommend rabbits. "It is very good for your dogs" he said.

Cleaver tip (1:20): when chopping small carcasses, you can save some wear and tear on both your cleaver's edge and your cutting board by using a rubber mallet to firmly tap the spine of the cleaver after the first cleaver blow. It also gives you more control and cleaner cuts.

2:55 Your admonition to the dog to chew (aside: dogs raised on kibble instead of whole raw prey tend to gulp without chewing) raises something many of us are often unaware of - how radically different our jaws are. Dogs technically cant "chew" because they dont have chewing molars or the ability to move their jaw side to side. Their rear teeth are very different than ours (ours are flat and designed for omnivorism - masticating plant matter and soft tissue) - instead, their rear teeth are conical and pointed and VERY strong, and designed for carnivorism (shearing morsels away from a carcass, and crushing up bones for swallowing) . . . theirs shear/crush, ours chew/masticate. I found that fascinating when I first learned it. Ok, back to the issue of gulping - ive read that a common tactic to deal with the tendency to gulp is to leave things cut too large to simply gulp - i.e., leave a chicken quarter whole instead of separating it into drum and thigh. If that isnt enough to encourage them to chew, the next step is to leave it par-frozen, which forces them to slow down and chew ... and once theyve gotten in the habit of proper chewing, then you can revert to serving it fully thawed. Seems sensible (I dont own a dog).

What other meat can you feed to your dogs frozen? Does it make a difference if it's frozen or defrost? Also, can you feed any breed raw meat? And at what do you start feeding them raw meat? Do they still eat kibble or just raw meat?

I feel dumb for asking but why is Vinci in a box when he eats? he's such a beautiful dog, I'm planning on getting a Cane Corso soon so my rottie/german shep can have another dog's company, they seem like such loyal companions.
