How is it that Russia thinks it is ok to hit Ukraine all the time but they don't get hit on their own territory

We’ve been hunting Russians outside Ukraine for months. It’s a lot of Wagner and other PMCs (run into Patriot, ENOT, and MAR) in Syria, but they all carry Ministry of Defense IDs. They also have phones with MOD issued SIM cards. And Ukraine isn’t just working with local nationals, there is also International Legion in Syria. But most are either former Special Operations, have spent time in Syria previously, or have very specific skill sets…like locating LoS radio or cell phone signal sources. I have a few nice souvenirs.

I think using a nuclear weapon would be a catastrophic move for Russia.

China have repeatedly stated to Russia and to the general public that using a nuclear weapon against a non-nuclear power is an atrocity. China are already playing the long game with Russia and regardless of the result of the conflict in Ukraine, China wins.

The reason for this is because if Russia wins in Ukraine the west will be in a weakened position and China will be able to continue building their presence on the world stage. If Russia loses there is a good chance that Russia will have an internal crisis which China can capitalise on, either through acquiring lands(like Russian Manchuria) or through governmental control.

Setting off a nuclear weapon in an offensive rather than defensive manner would set a dangerous precedent around the world. It would push other nations, which have traditionally steered clear of nuclear weapons, to acquire them by any means necessary as a form of security. Could you imagine the likes of Türkiye, Germany, Japan and Poland with nukes? Sheesh.

It would also allow the likes of North Korea to justify their use of nuclear weapons and maybe even Iran(if they have genuinely acquired some) in a first strike attack. At which point we plunge ourselves into a nuclear holocaust.

Placing the training that close to Poland's border makes it much easier to place it under an umbrella of anti air assets.

NATO planes can patrol along the border from inside Poland and shoot down a lot of incoming missiles. SAM sites inside of Poland can protect quite a ways into Ukraine. Placing French troops there could also be used as a way to pressure other nations like Greece and Spain to send patriot systems into Western Ukraine to protect the French and Polish and Estonian troops.

With that kind of protection it would also be the perfect place for the F16's to be stationed at.

The problem Russia would have nuking Ukraine is the winds tend to blow from west to east bringing the fallout to Russia.
