An African proverb I learned here in America many moons ago that stayed on my mind is “When brothers fight to the death a stranger inherits their father’s estate” Truer words have never been spoken

I remember when Burna Boy's mother accepted an award on his behalf. When she said that African Americans were still African and we could always come home. I heard a voice that said "I want to go home." I cried so hard and I made it my life's mission to get "home"

When my sister and I came to the Gambia 🇬🇲 West Africa we were greeted with *Welcome Home Sisters* the most welcoming greeting and feeling in all of my travels ♥️

This is going to be “deep.” When my husband and I were in Senegal a woman told me that I was Fulani. It wasn’t until a year later that I did my DNA test which did show that I was indeed, Fulani, along with other ethnic groups. She knew me before I knew me. My point: take the time feel your African DNA!

I visited Nigeria for a month & that was how I was greeted, "You are welcome" or "Welcome home sister"! It was nothing but love & respect I received from my Nigerian brothers & sisters

My first time going to Nigeria i was scared and ready for the opposite of what i received. I barely touched down on the soil and while walking in the airport the elder lady literally gave me my Nigerian name ifadamilare. And she said welcome back home child. Welcome home. And i cried like a lil baby. And as i was walking thru got my luggage and i heard IFADAMILARE IFADAMILARE, i turned around and it was the lady and she said see i told u this is your name and your are home. She hugged me and from day one wherever I went i gave them that name and others welcomed me back once they found out where i was from and that i was afro American. Had so many stories and i rep my new found home. Oh and found out before i went i was literally half Nigerian which is of the Yoruba tribe . Rant over

I'm African American and I LOOOVVVE my beautiful African sisters and brothers. The church I once attended was 95% Nigerian and I soo adored them. One of my best friends is from Cameroon. I have always admired Africans. I especially love how well African parents raise their children. The children honor and respect their parents which is becoming rare here in the states.

It's sad that we've allowed the beast to separate our African heritage. I love my people from all across the diasporas. Stop with the madness

Two years ago my aunt and uncle travelled to Ghana. While there visting the villages, they were "welcomed home" by one of the elders. Out of all the beautiful sights and sounds and excursions they were part of, they said this "made" their entire trip. They described it as both humbling and powerful. I am American-born and raised but my root system is from Africa.

As a AA I can contest that I had a similar experience when I went to Nigeria 3 years ago. I returned this past February 2022 and the love was still there💖💖💖💖🥰

Africans in Africa are the most welcoming and cultured people. African Americans will be welcomed and treated in our most traditional form of kindness and generosity.
