She lived through blacks being treated as 2nd class citizens to shaking the black president’s hand. That must feel surreal.

Virginia McLaurin died at home in Olney, Maryland, on November 14, 2022, at the age of 113 years, 247 days. She witnessed so much Black History during her lifetime. It is wonderful that she managed to fulfill her dream in going to the Whitehouse, and the bonus of meeting the Obamas made it even more of a fantastic experience.

To think she was 53 years old when Martin Luther King made his "I have a dream" speech! And she was still alive when the first black president was elected! Absolutely amazing!

Damn, this woman was born in 1910. Lived through two world wars, the Great Depression, the mainstreaming of movies, the birth of jazz, Korea, Vietnam, the birth of rock and Motown, Kennedy, the birth of tv, the moon landing, Civil Rights, The Cold War, the Internet, 9/11, the War on Terror, all the way iPhones and the first Black President. What a remarkable witness of history she is.

This beautiful woman IS HISTORY she never thought she would see a day where there was a black president and black First Lady. She remembers a time where we couldn’t swim In the same pools or drink out the same fountain. So to her this is amazing. And it’s even more amazing to know that she is still living and dancing and enjoying life. What a remarkable woman God bless her ❤️

Sometimes I like to come back to this just to get that serotonin boost. I'm extremely glad she was able visit and live to see the progress made with racism. We still have more to fight but this woman who has seen so much got a massive win for sure for her struggles
