First time I’ve seen a parachute on an airplane that definitely makes sense though. Crazy how people have the opinion that having one makes you lazy. Too many things wrong with that statement

This gives serious “People laughed when seat belts were introduced for cars” vibe.

Most accidents happen when landing and then your parachute is of no use to you. So he is right and you just have to be a good pilot, parachute or not.

I’m a flight simulation engineer for FAA approved sims. (Not a pilot)I’m well versed in not only Cirrus but many other GA aircraft types and emergency procedures.
It is sad when I hear about a Cirrus pilot who pulls CAPS too low to the ground which is often fatal when normal emergency procedures may have saved them.

Too me the parachute makes it a deal. There’s not many other aircraft with a feature like that. I wish it was more standard.

Interesting. Once I got my Cirrus with the parachute, I started crashing all the time. Oh no wait: that's my hellcat.

I dont know man. Im ATC and its always a cirrus pilot trying to fly right through the middle of a thunderstorm after i tell them about it. Every single time.

As if you pull the parachute to avoid a crosswind landing. Its $20k to repack the chute and virtually impossible to land with the parachute without very costly damage to the plane. It's great as a very last resort option and saves lives.

It’s like when you ride a motorcycle, you dress for the fall although you’re not planning to crash.

Always nice to have more backups and opportunities. As a trauma doctor and pilot, I never wished I had less options when someone dying on the table.

Love the way you put this,
A caps pull is an airframe write off event, it's no easy recovery from that. You still try before you cry.

Seen quite a few of your videos. You’re a good pilot and a sharp dude that has his stuff together. Flying deserves respect and it’s evident you give it.

All new planes should come with this, its a fantastic safety feature

I’m glad you have this mindset. But have flown with many cirrus pilots I would not trust flying my family because they rely on that chute too much. It is what it is. If you pretend it is not there and become a good pilot first that is what I want. Unfortunately though I’ve seen the reality. And this is coming from someone who trained on and loves flying the cirrus.

There are Cirrus Pilots and then there are pilots who fly a Cirrus.

I couldn’t agree more. You are 100% the one in the right

I'm an Air Traffic Controller and Cirrus planes are my favorite to control because they can go very fast and slow also since they're smaller they are more maneuverable than other Jets / props. They just make my job easier all around.

Been in heaps of small planes and flown 100+ hours PIC. Being in the VIsion Jet was a real breath of fresh air, it's so darn stable, great takeoff perf loaded to the max but the chute, peace of mind like no other plane eh. Really love it. If you have a family, it's a no brainer.

When it’s the safety of the family, there are no lazy steps. I’m not a pilot, nor will I ever be one, extremely color blind, but having a plane parachute just makes sense.

If there is a "circus-style" net to fall into option, on top of the parachute option that comes with the plane to keep your family and yourself extra safe, every GOOD pilot would love to have one and would strive to have one.
