"Sorry officer, I am unable to answer ANY of your questions without first conferring with counsel."

I don't know my rights. You read me all of Miranda's rights. I don't even know Miranda.

What ever you do don’t sign it. Tell them you want legal counsel before signing anything

There are only two things you should say when being stopped or questioned by the police ... the first is always: "Am I being detained or am I free to go?"
If they say you're being detained:
"I don't answer questions without an attorney. I'm exercising my right to remain silent until my attorney is present."

Do not fall for the common misconception that exercising your right to remain silent & have an attorney present is an indication of guilt. It absolutely is not. I see so many people commenting things like "if you're innocent, you have nothing to worry about! Refusing to answer questions & requesting an attorney makes you look guilty!" - Nothing could be further from the truth. If you're innocent & being questioned, it's likely that you ll never need an attorney more!! Protect yourself; know your rights!! Police officers are NOT your friends and they're not there to help you, no matter how hard they try to convince you otherwise. They're often under immense pressure from the public, their department & their county & state government officials to make an arrest (especially for bigger/more heinous crimes). Their goal is to get a confession. They can (and will) legally lie to obtain it - lie about what evidence they have, statements others have made, etc etc etc.

Regardless of the crime you're suspected of or being questioned about, it is ALWAYS better to say nothing until your attorney is present.
We need to combat this notion of it being an automatic indication of guilt - there is nothing wrong with invoking your rights!

Police will often lie to you as well saying that "if you help them by answering questions, you'll be free to go.". It's one of the lies they always try first.

Sign nothing, say nothing EXCEPT "I want my lawyer."

Best thing I’ve ever heard about not talking to the cops. It goes _”anything you say can and will be used against you”_ this also suggests that *nothing* you say can be used *for* you. So there’s literally no reason to talk to them, because it can’t help you even in the slightest… legally speaking.

Best advise: even if you've been read your miranda rights, keep your mouth shut until your attorney arrives.

1. I'm exercising my right to remain silent.
2. I'm exercising my right to retain legal counsel.

Moral of the story is to never leave your home. And never open the door to anyone.

Never sign anything without your lawyers directions.

One could say, "Well, don't do anything to be pulled over/questioned." However ramifications can run much deeper, even when the POI is completely innocent of any wrong.

We really don’t have any rights left! If you can’t buy yourself some justice you get none!

In America, guilty until proven innocent.
... and even if you're innocent... you still may be screwed

I knew this as a young teenager. That's why I was sitting in the station watching them all eat and didn't make a sound. They had no proof, I waited for my parent to show up to the room, then I talked asking them for their proof. I walked out after that with no charges. It's called using your head and don't let people intimidate you. I already been through some life experiences at that age.

Miranda rights are always in place. They do not just magically appear when you get arrested. The Miranda decision was a mandatory reminder of your rights.

Disregard the 'Can Be Used Against You',

Everything 'Will Be Used Against You',

If you say something that supports your guilt it will be exaggerated and used against you

if you say something that will support your innocents, it will be corrupted, exaggerated and used against you

Politely declined to answer any questions beyond the bare minimal, No! chit chat or No! seemingly innocent conversations

Say, "I can't sign that card. It isn't my name."

"You may address me as John Doe until I can consult with my counsel."

You also need to request legal counsel and that you will be no communication until counsel is present

And believe me, they get mad when you just say "I want my lawyer" over and over and over when they're asking you questions that they're claiming are just "routine" and "not part of the questioning."
