Some affordable (old school) alternatives: ceramides = wheat germ oil; collagen = gelatin (capsules or make jello) or bone broth (homemade).

I have had melanoma skin cancer, so started taking a niacinamide supplement. Shortly afterwards, I experienced a lot of dizziness. I learned that niacinamide can lower your blood pressure. I already have low blood pressure, so I stopped the niacinamide and the dizziness stopped.

I am 64 and was also a big sunworshiper which I didn’t stop til I was 40. I have had multiple skin cancers, surgeries and freezing of acnetic keratosis. I started taking Niacinamide 500mg twice a day for 6 years now. I have not had any new skin cancers or acnetic keratosis since. I will take it twice a day for the rest of my life.

I keep meaning to try the phytoceramides…thank you for the reminder! My cholesterol was creeping up in spite of a healthy diet and lifestyle (darn genetics) after some research I made only one dietary change and ate oatmeal most days…after a year my cholesterol dropped 30 points! Luckily I love oatmeal LOL. Thanks again Angie! ❤

L-Lysine is for tissue health. My sister recommended for Covid. I don’t know why but when I noticed my skin looking better I’m 63 I definitely still taking it. I just get mine at Walmart. Very inexpensive. Just wanted to share that with you. You’ve helped others so much.😊

I'm too young to be able to notice that many changes by taking collagen but the one change I could see quite quickly was with my hair. I struggle with hair loss and since taking collagen, I have more baby hairs, my hairline looks thicker and I have way less hair fall in the shower. The one annoyance is that I've been doing laser hair removal and since taking the collagen, my body hairs are more resistant. Once you stop growing, collagen production starts to decrease and once you hit your 20s the decline is quite rapid. Collagen is found in so many places in the body, including the bones which is why I'm a big advocate for this supplement. If you don't want to take collagen, then bone broth works well too. I take the California Goold Nutrition CollagenUp powder (it has marine collagen, hyaluronic acid, and vitamin c, and it's unflavoured). Just remember you can't make collagen if you don't take anything to help stimulate collagen. Vitamins A and C are a couple examples of nutrients required for collagen production.

Another supplement that works great for joint pain/inflammation is turmeric/curcumin. I notice a huge difference when I run out. It’s important to take a formula with black pepper in it, which helps the body absorb it. I take the Mega Foods Extra Strength.
Also prescription Restasis is a game changer for dry eyes.

My dads skin was getting bruised. It’s very thin and papery. His doctor told him to start taking collagen and it has pretty much stopped those bruised lesion like areas on his arms That is what proved to me collagen actually works!

When Costco had a great sale, my sweet husband came home with 6 tubs of vital proteins collagen! Thanks for the heads up on the scoop!

About 20 years ago, I put my grandmother on that joint supplement. She was 89 at the time and she loved it. Said it really helped her legs.

I look at supplements as an insurance policy. I try to get most of my vitamins from food, but taking the supplements makes sure I get everything in. Awesome video, Angie, great job!

Thanks Angie!! I take a ton of supplements too. Since they are unregulated by the FDA I only take ones that are third party tested (USP) to be sure I’m getting what I’m supposed to get in the pills!

I don’t know how typical this is but I often have unwanted side effects from supplements. Collagen gives me headaches and makes me sleepy (in fact I use it as a sleep aid sometimes) B1 makes me very hungry, Resveratrol stopped me sleeping and made me feel weird. Adaptogens made me brain foggy. So I am very wary of them and take note of how I feel on anything new.

I take NR, Biosil and a probiotic daily. Biosil does what collagen does without the side effects (and also helps bones) and has improved my skin nails and hair. NR boosts my exercise performance and energy. I take probiotics as I had so many courses of antibiotics for dental surgery in the last few years. I also supplement Estrogen, which is a wonder drug! I am 70 and a young woman will not need half of these.

So my message is to be wary. Your body may not react well.

First, I LOVE the sweater you're wearing!! You're also looking beautiful as ever. Your neck does look like it's a bit firmer (imo). I'm so happy you're updating this because I started taking a lot of what you mentioned in your last supplement video and have loved the results ❤️ especially the phytoceramides! Now that the humidity in my house is around 62%, my face is no longer a desert landscape (/thanks to your recommendation to get humidifiers) I also love your honesty - you're not claiming that these are all miracle supplements but the fact that you do all the research and play guinea pig for all of us is very much appreciated. Lots of love to you!

Just here to say thanks! Awhile back you mentioned Glucosamine & Chondroitin for joint health/pain. I'm your age. My hands started hurting badly over abt a year- took awhile to realize it was prob arthritis. It was getting so bad it woke me up in the am, and I could barely open childproof caps. Started taking G&C with daily meds. Didn't even think about it again until I realized about a month later my hands didn't hurt any more! Like not even a little! I know that sounds extreme, but I changed nothing else in my life but adding G&C. Unreal! I'm a science research nerd like you- nothing definitive in research (but promising) yet this actually helped me! Still need to discuss w my doc (yes, I should've done first!), and hoping for a big👍Thanks so much💜

Thanks Angie! I was all excited about that collagen supplement. 2 scoops a day for 3 months. No difference. Waste of money. If you want glowy skin get on the floor and do leg lifts until your skin is burning. Works for me. I’m 67 and get compliments on my complexion all the time. OR lemon juice drank with any high quality protein. Tip: McDonalds is NOT an example of high quality protein people.
