Ursula's backstory reminds me of "The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Beginning" because that movie reveals that Ariel's mom (Queen Athena) was killed by pirates when her daughters were young.

I love Ursula, as she originally is as a mermaid, just as much Ariel and mermaids from, "The Heart of the Truest Believer". Was the animated Ursula, in The little Mermaid (1989), originally a mermaid too.

Actually it was the sea witch sisters like Ursula and morgana are mad sisters. Btw Poseidon is a god of the sea brother of Zeus and Hades and son of cronus.

I think Ursula as a mermaid in this series looks prettier than Ariel in the LA remake of The Little Mermaid.

I think maybe this part of the sea witch Ursula's story is Once Upon a Time's version of Ariel's story, which we don't see in the series. So maybe in OUAT, Ariel is just that. A Little Mermaid. And maybe she's not related to gods or royalty in any way, which is why the version of Ursula we see is related. Maybe in the universe of OUAT, when Walt Disney recorded both Ursula and Ariel's stories, he mixed them both together to make Little Mermaid, which is why the real Ariel in OUAT's story doesn't have the same story as Disney's Ariel.
