In this video:

Tom Anderson, better known online as MySpace Tom, was, for a brief period in the early 2000s, arguably the most popular man on the internet. Boasting over 200 million friends at the apex of MySpace’s popularity, Tom was everybody who signed up to use the site’s first, but hopefully not only, friend. So what is he doing now and why was he everyone’s friend?

I always liked MySpace more. I only left because no one was left on it, but being able to code your own layout was a fantastic aspect.

He’s one of the smart ones. Made his money and got the hell of that awful business and now he’s got the rest of his life to do whatever he wants. Perfect. I liked MySpace better than Facebook anyway.

*MySpace broke alot of friendships. When you visit your best friend page. And you didn't see yourself in their top 10 friends list 😂*

Tom never tried to censor us. He didn't want to spy on everything we did. Tom was a friend to us all.

I miss MySpace so much spent hours coding and creating flash animations . At one point even hosted all the content for the layout on a server at my house. Something about those times made the internet feel more alive than it does today.

i was actually one of the first 50 folks working at myspace with tom back in the day. left shortly after the newscorp buyout. never knew tom super well but he always seemed a down to earth and nice guy in our limited interactions. somewhere on the internet there's a picture of me with a hot pink mohawk standing next to him and the rest of myspace HQ circa 2005 in front of a firetruck in santa monica. i miss the days when social networks weren't all about buying and selling your life information like facebook.

To be honest I think Myspace is a better name than facebook

Myspace used to be cool. And profile customization was part of what made it cool in the first place.

I miss the old days of MySpace. There was more personality, and more freedom.

Facebook sucks. It's the 1984 of social media.

Toms seems like a good example of what a person does when they don't need a job and don't worry about income.

I was expelled for making a Myspace page posing as my Vice Principle when I was in 8th grade. The site had more friends than me in less than a week. It was an immature move on my part but I was a bored student. In an unexpected twist of fate, and due to the quality of my work, the prank ultimately landed me in the gifted program.
