Sydney airlink cost $20. Perth charges only standard fares for our train for the airport link - so $5. Also one of the best thing about Perth is no Toll roads.

Lived in Perth all my life. Met an American many years ago and he said -Perth is the world’s best kept secret.

I’m from Perth - when you are born in such an isolated city, it is not a barrier at all, it’s just ‘normal’.

Perth's isolation depends on perspective. We're in the same time zone as Malaysia, Singapore and China (which also has no daylight saving). We're only about 7 timezones from Western Europe and West Africa (with lots of mining) so we have 4pm meeting in Perth with subsidiary staff at their 9am. Eastern states are so economically irrelevant to us that we can comfortably close our borders.

Hi, I was born in Perth, went backpacking around the world when I was 23, I lived in England for 22 years. I was so glad to move back to Perth in 2010 with English hubby, he loves it here and would never live anywhere else again, this is his home and he is now an Australian citizen. When I got back after so long away it had changed dramatically, before I left in 1988 there were no trains through the suburbs, not many high rise buildings and the buses were terrible. Although I prefer the old Perth, I can appreciate the new fresh, modern Perth, and I'm glad for the trains and freeway. So glad you enjoyed your stay here.

Aaw, listening to you made me swell with pride about my beautiful state and city. Wonderful to hear the positives from someone visiting for the first time.

I’m a born and bred West Aussie. I was born in a wheatbelt town and moved to Perth as a kid. I grew up here and have lived here most of my life. I did go back to the country for a number of years, but eventually came back to Perth. It’s a great place to live.

I moved to Perth and lived there for fifteen years. I only left because my family there moved back to the east coast and I followed them. I loved it there and miss the community feel of the place. Maybe it’s the isolation from the rest of the country but it just felt like people there had a community spirit that can be lacking sometimes in a larger metropolis.

HI Ash, I'm a Perth local. Perth always get bagged by our East Coast counterparts and even my relatives don't come over to Perth. They think Perth is so behind from the rest of the world. We love the fact we are the most isolated city in the world. We enjoy the space from our cities. Being living here since 1980s and I love the easy life and simplicity. back in Early 1900's WA voted for independence and 68% was for it but the British Monarch rejected.... I'm for it. it's good to see that happen so that the rest of Australia knows how much they rely on WA financially and maybe they will start respecting the hard work that comes from WA, all the iron ore, gas, gold, lithium, Rare earth and other resources as well as cattle, wine, wool, dairy, seafood the state produces and export to China.

Hi Ashleigh. I'm a Canadian living in Australia since the mid 1960s. I have always lived in Adelaide, a smallish city that I love for many reasons. If someone held a gun to my head and said ' you must leave Adelaide, pick another city in Australia to live in'. I would say Perth in a heartbeat.

Hi Ash. I moved to regional WA over 20 years ago from Sydney. One of the first things I noticed too was how clean it was. Perth city has so much to offer, and the people here really are so nice. It has a far more communal feel about it. The public transport is so much cheaper, and the CAT buses are free! When I go back to Sydney to visit, it's overwhelming, and so crowded. I don't think I would live anywhere else

Never mentioned the free CAT buses that operate all around the city and go to the local Uni. Great way to cool off in summer if the heat gets too much on a walk. Just jump on for a few stops...
Perth City has a lot of beauty for sure.

Hi Ashleigh, I'm born and raised in Perth. I've lived in the USA, Singapore and Greece for a year each, but I always come home to Perth. I love the lifestyle we have here.
So glad you were welcomed by all the people you met during your visit here, just the way it should be. If you come back to Perth, you must take a trip down to Mandurah, where I am, it's only an hour on the train, and it's a lovely place to visit, with lots to see and do 😊

The worst thing about Perth is that it is so isolated. The best thing is that it is so isolated.

I am an old Perth boy living in Sydney. I miss Perth. Beaches, transport, the big pool. Triggs Island.

Moved to Perth in 93 when I was 16 from Melbourne. Missed it for about a year or so, but after going back a lot of the years, find Perth much nicer, better weather and a better pace. Fun fact, Perth is the world's largest urban sprawl in length at 150km from north to south.

From UK but moved to Perth in 2012. Absolutely love it here. Nice to get back to London once every couple of years for a culture fix, but otherwise there really is not much wrong with Perth.

We arrived in Perth from the UK in 1970, and I cant imagine living anywhere else! Its changed very much since the late 1980s, with rapid population growth, but we love the lifestyle, mild winters, and being able to holiday anywhere from Esperance to Kununurra without leaving the state! I dont really love summer, the heat can be oppressive if you dont like near the ocean, however people are friendly and welcome you.

So glad you found your way over to Perth. Iv lived all over Australia and I’m happy raising a family here.
Perth airport line is not private like the other cities and compared to others it’s new. It’s the only service in the country that will transport commuters to and from the airport, at a regular passenger fare. Very cheap option.
Perths commercial shipping is located in the Port of Fremantle, located at the mouth of the Swan river.

I have lived in Perth for 22 years. I live on the northern coast not in the city. Love it
