The US Navy does everything in its power to move its ships out of a hurricane’s path and this guy thinks it was a good idea to ride out a CAT 4. Wtf are ppl thinking?!

Angels were with those men who stayed on their boats during that storm. I don’t know what they were thinking doing a stupid thing like that.

Where are the 686 billionaires who live in the USA? Food and water is the most important thing for people who have been experiencing the after effects of IAN. ❤

I could die tomorrow, there is no question about that, I love the great outdoors and the wilderness, and anything can happen out here, so I could die tomorrow, but it is not going to happen because I decide to stay during a category four hurricane… And most certainly am I not going to stay in a boat during a category four hurricane… That is almost unbelievable…

The marina is the absolute worst place to stay, if no one is available to adjust the cable tensions and the water rises that high everything is going to sink or break, not to mention everything tied off to it. You'd be better off at sea at that point

If you don't plan on protecting your boat then you will most likely damage, or destroy your boat. I see several boats not protected in the video, and not properly secured as well. I read about 1 week notice was given regarding the hurricane. Why did nobody choose to protect their boats?

Another option probably could have been to relocate boats before the hurricane hit. Nobody chose to relocate their boat.

Oh I thought he going to be the only one that did the right thing and take it out to sea...

As a Floridian who's been through countless hurricanes, anyone who decides to ride out a storm, on a boat, after all the warnings given, has no one to blame, but themselves. Yes, I feel bad for everyone affected, but on a boat, ignoring warnings, you're pretty much an idiot playing with your life and the lives of first responders that could be set out to rescue you!

So, it's 36 hours at 15 knots to Belize from Miami, I looked it up. That's a day and half. why not leave three days before the storm hits and go where the storm aint going? I'm actually curious, so if someone knows the answer I'd appreciate knowing. Do some people do that? Did some people bail to the USVI or Mexico or whatever? Why stay? I get sail boats can't out run a storm but any modern sport cruiser could, even trawlers.

I lost a boat in hurricane Sandy a boat is considered a luxury item by FEMA and they will not pay you need to have good insurance coverage if you own a boat

These people are so obsessed and attached to their material possessions. The universe cares nothing about your possessions. At any moment you and your earthly possessions can be swept away.

I'm so sick of hearing people use the "I thought it was going north of here" excuse for not evacuating the coast. We knew for DAYS that the coast was going under water and we were ALWAYS in the cone. These hurricane deniers are really getting on my nerves.

I was tasked to ride out a storm on a yacht in ft myers yacht basin.
It didn't go good and we lost the boat.
That has been the worst night ever of my life. I also am a war veteran and this was something else and way more scary.

So, have people forgotten that boats / ships can sink from bad weather? Is that it? Not enough news of boats disappearing at sea, so people now think boats are unsinkable? I'm just trying to understand why anyone would think being on a boat during a hurricane is a remotely good idea.

Does any know why owners don't move out of the way of a Hurricane knowing 5 to 10 days in advance location of the inevitable storm . I would have moved the boat to a location other then a direct hit.
