Job postings are insane! They list a million different skills that no one has (for entry-level positions).

I have been searching a year now. I have even applied to far lesser paying jobs and still get the rejection letter. I have 3 interviews lined up this week. Please wish me well. If you are a job seeker, you are not alone.

I had an interview with a company in August 2023 that lasted 2.5 hours. The interview was with a team and lasted 2 hours, during which they took me on a tour of the production area. After the interview, I followed up with HR, but they never responded to me. Later, I discovered that they had hired someone for an entry-level position without posting the job. This was disappointing and unprofessional behavior from HR. Candidates do not deserve to be ghosted and lied to, and HR should know how to improve themself better.

The fact that this video has to be made is proof of what an absolute cancer HR has become.

The job market is trash. I have a degree and many years of experience and can't even get interviews for things I am way over qualified for. I've had my resume and cover letter done and redone professionally multiple times. If you do manage to get an interview the majority of the time you are ghosted even when interviews go well and you are given promised follow up dates/timelines. I've invested so many hours of energy and time with no results and now I give up. I'm planning to retire early and move to a cheap state or another country to get out of this rat race. The answer now a days seems to be an entrepreneur or start your own small business.

The human has been removed from human resources. I'm old enough to remember life before ATS and all this gate keeping non sense that started with the Great Recession and has only become worse since. I did all the right things in life. Worked hard, got good grades, went to college. All of this for nothing. Learn a trade or start your own business. We need to go back to the old ways where we worked directly with hiring managers and no online gatekeepers. With inflation and the high cost of everything it takes all you have just to survive day to day.

I’m a 7 year BA and PM, I have been applying like a mad man for the last 5 months and haven’t even gotten an interview. This market is rough

Recently I was zoom interviewed by two people for a position. A question came up in regards to priorities in my career. I responded back that I am almost 63 and I am at a point where I am not think about my career and I am more concerned about getting a job so I wouldn’t have to pay cobra. The hr person jumped and said interview questions are based on the star system. Whatever that is. In this recent job search not once have I been asked why I feel that I am the best canidate for the position. What concerns me is that people are being hired based on who best answers questions that are somewhat irrelevant.

I never leave comments but I must say I used your past videos and and your resume tips. I applied with the new resume and got the interview and didn't hear back until about month and half later saying to do another interview. And then I was offered a position to start January 15th it's the exact job I've been wanting for a while now. Thank you so much for the information. Everyone please don't get discouraged I quit my job because I was so unhappy and couldn't spend time with my kids. It is frustrating trust me plenty of crying and regrets but I changed my focus and my mindset . POSITIVE THINKING AND DETERMINATION AND FAITH IS SO IMPORTANT! Thank you again Professor !!

All this work for some entry level job that will make you work overtime. It's over. Not only do you have to work a job you hate, you have to pretend you love it, and in your free time you have to "network" with people you don't like/don't like you. Playing office politics all day. All this economic productivity and people can't eat without working 60+ hours.

Thank you for the video! I took a career break last year. Now employers make me feel like I should be crucified for having that gap on my resume. I kept up with the industry of interest and technology while on my break. Tailoring a resume for each position is exhausting. It is so disheartening! face-pink-tears

Job hunting is broken beyond imagination. What happened to the days where an entry-level role you could simply apply and interview briefly and simply start the job. Now entry-level jobs have seven or more stages costing you hours and hours and then you can get ghosted. Ridiculous.

In my opinion, the reason for the trash job hunting over the past 3 years is NOT just the economy, but also the mad influx of HORRIBLE HR gatekeepers. Apathy up the ying yang, lazy at best practices, 0 discernment, and negative attention to detail. Companies would do a lot of good halving their HR teams/ staffing.

That’s why I’m teaching my kids to become entrepreneurs, not workers like my parents taught me. You can do all of this and still barely make ends meet. So not worth it anymore. Gen Z seems to have figured it out. Work for yourself!

yes, job seekers are at fault. Can we hold these companies and recruiters accountable for not being fair?

Either that, or the job is too far or, the employer lies about where the job is and its just too far out. In Georgia its terrible

Companies need to hire more people and stop piling so much onto the employees they have. And the government needs to create more jobs.

yeah my mom even told me that at some point i will be overqualified. 1. I have an Associate degree. 2. Working on my Bachelor degree. 3. held three jobs. Only issue is that they are not related to the field I am studying for. 4. At this point, suicide is calling.
