Nikon D7500 Camera Review by Rich Coleman with Your Photography Mentor

The D7500 looks and feels much like the other Nikon D7000 series cameras yet it weighs 6 ounces less than its predecessor. If you’re out shooting all day, this slight decrease in weight is welcome. The D7500 has an easy to access menu and option controls, deep-set grip, and tilting LCD screen, making the camera comfortable and easy to use.

Many believe that this camera is ideal for the landscape or nature enthusiast given that it can shoot at 8 frames per second – perfect for capturing wildlife. The expanded ISO capabilities of the D7500 are tremendous in low-light situations, too. The built-in WiFi and Bluetooth systems makes the D7500 a great camera for all photographers.

With its menu buttons and controls set up so it’s easy to set up, the D7500 allows the photographer full control while also giving some flexibility while out in the field shooting. The locking feature on the mode dial also helps keep accidental switches from happening, which is something Nikon aimed to fix with this model.

Even those upgrading from the entry-level models like the Nikon D3400 will find it easy to transition to this camera.

I would give 5/5 for IQ - it has the same sensor that D500 has and for me it's the best apsc sensor on the market (I owned Sony cameras as well and still feel this sensor performs a bit better). For build quality and features, however, I would give 4/5, d500 has the edge here.

Reading out specs is not a review. A review is using the camera over a period of time, and using the images and videos produced from that use to make an independent assessment of the camera's performance.

Do you think there is enough differences between the d7500 and the d3400 (my current body) to justify the purchase? If you have a comparison video, my apologies.. I tried to find it! Amateur photographer.. mostly local family portraits and local little league sports team photos.

Maybe you can help me with understanding this review. Where has Nikon indicated that this is the successor to the D7200? I believe the D500 is the successor to the D7200. I believe this is the successor to the D3000 and D5000 series camera models.

Hi. You forgot to mention in the "cons" segment that this is the only D7xxx series that doesn't meter manual lenses. I had to purchase a previous model to allow for that. Just one card slot and no battery grip option? What's up Nikon?

User friendly - 0 stars. How do you choose all the settings. I can't change shutter speed, fstop, and iso. If I pick one there are no options to pick the others. Using a D40 all these years, so I'm outta date. I understand photography, but this hardware is driving me crazy.
