Just bought it to use exclusively with my Nikon 200-500mm super telephoto lens, focusing is super accurate and 3D tracking doing great job for action shooting. Ergonomically the D7500 is way better and much more comfortable than D7200, Snapbridge is fast enough for cell phone transfer and connection is secure and consistent despite complains over Snapbridge. I think Nikon improved it vastly on D7500 and the D850.

"Perfect" in one person's eyes in not the same as "Perfect" in another person's eyes..
I STILL think my Nikon D90 is "Perfect" and that dates way back to 2008.
It Does EVERYTHING I need it to do... The layout is so logical ..It is well made and sturdy ..
220, 000 Shots after I bought mine ..It is still going strong and I will be GUTTED when it does die or I can no longer buy batteries for it.
One person's meat is another person's poison ...

Left Nikon D7100 for Fuji a few years ago. Now with kids playing in sports the Nikon consistently outperforms the Fuji. The D7500 has been great. Considered the D500 but too much heft and weight for my purposes. Love one-handing the D7500. With the D500 I would need 2 different card adapters as the D500 is one slot for SD & one for XQD... so for me it’s really one slot...not to mention a $700 premium. Also, I actually use the flash on my D7500. The D7500 has replaced my X-T2 but I did keep my trusty X-E2. The D7500 is truly under appreciated.

Have bought this camera last week n have upgraded from d 5300. It’s a bomb n has given a new dimension to the photography. Am using sigma 17-50 mm, f 2.8 with it. Stunning images with precise details. Bought just the body only in Indian currency equivalent to $ 750

I went through about (what feels like) 10 or so of these reviews and this was the only one I watched to the end without realizing it. Covered all the things I cared about. Thanks.

I used D40 for way too long. I'm excited for D7500. Fedex dropped it of moments ago. I'm charging it now.

Another note.. you mentioned the metering system. It has been VERY good. Going back to DSLR from live preview with mirrorless has taken some adjustment. I’ve been pleasantly surprised with the exposures I get in A & S priority. Many times I’ve thought I hope it was right only to have that .. damn, that looks good moment. I have had a few quirks in ‘different’ lighting (half sunlight from outdoors and half indoor lighting) but that’s pretty tough IMO... and can be fixed. Very happy with metering.

How do You explain so many people were making their living with 5D, 5D MkII, D700, D300... not so long ago and not having two card slots? How many cards died on You in last 10 years. I had one SD that stopped working after i dropped on the wood floor and stepped on it. The biggest issue with that camera I have is that has no full support for Nikon manual lenses they have bragged about for years before that one came about. And that is the issue as You would want a lens with long manual throw focus for video.

I retired my D300s after 9 years in service and bought this new baby.

At first I was put off by the fact the sensor is 20mpx but I downloaded some raw files and was blown away by the sharpness and image quality. I think this is the best apsc sensor on the market. The lack of dual card slot, while annoying, becomes less important for me.

Anyone annoyed by the lens cap not being horizontal?

No battery grip? i'll carry my battery in my backpack. Then i don't have to deal with all the extra weight of the grip itself.

What do you guys think. Is the D7500 enough to keep DSLRs alive or is it already time for the mirrorless takeover???

The only thing that I would really like to see in this review or any other review on this D7500 is how the lack of OIS affects (or not) the overall performance of the camera, both on stills and on video. Thanks, Dan. Loved the video!!
