Hey guys, a very important thing here is a common ground connection. He has derived power from the Arduino and 1117 so he has GND same for both Arduino & ESP8266. I was using a separate power supply for the ESP8266 and could not make the chip to work. Its only when I connected the GND of Arduino with the GND of ESP8266 power, I was able to make the chip work. The chip otherwise kept on giving junk characters.

How were the two capacitors around the regulator chosen? I don't have 100nF at hand, can I use two 10uF instead of a 100nF and a 10uF?

Is it possible to communicate between two arduinos using esp8266 for sending between them temperature values in both direction? I couldnt find tutorials/information about this.

Why don't you just use 3.3V output of Arduino board?
