Can the most affordable Squier perform well in a Studio?

With some drawbacks.

I composed this piece with only that Squier played in the video. Even though the sound in a live situation may be perceived as not terrible, in a studio context things start to get complicated. Usually, when I record songs for this channel, I do not EQ my other brand guitars because there is no need - recorded, straight to mix - and as of this one, every recording sounds muddy and dull when the guitar is overdriven. I had to spend a long time sitting in front of the computer trying to make overdriven guitars sound pleasant. Clean sounds are a little bit different story. Better, but I still had to use EQ to fine tune and achieve a nice sound.

NOTE: I haven't done a single modification to this guitar. The way I got it (used) it's how it was kept. I only gave it a setup to be playable. Frets need levelling, fretboard needs to be cleaned and the guitar body needs a heavy polishing.

I don't even know the date of release of this Squier... I just know it's a Mainstream model, with a hard tail. Feels weird to play a Strat (or something that resembles it) without a Tremolo.

If you liked this song, please support the channel! I upload new videos every week.

In case you're wondering, the guitars sitting on the cozy sofa are:

- 2001 Fender American Standard Stratocaster limited edition (Chrome Blue)
- 2021 Fender American Professional II Telecaster (Miami Blue)
- 2016 Gibson Les Paul Studio (Faded Cherry)

Gear I used to record this: Marshall MG50CFX on clean channel; Keeley Compressor Plus; Santa Ana Overdrive; Boss RV-6; Shure SM57.

The most expensive guitar won't save you if you're either a shit player or a shit producer. This dude is neither. Sounds killer, bruh!

A great answer to a question.

I remember vaguely an interview with an artist and they said that once you hit the big time, the pressure to go out and blow thousands on a top of the range Gibson Les Paul is high. The workhorse Epiphone version that got you to that big time won’t cut it any more.

Case and point? Noel Gallagher of Oasis. Writes first album + creates a buzz, main guitar is an Epiphone Les Paul, all stock. Oasis become bigger - oh, it has to be Gibson now.

Epiphone, Squier and other brands are perfectly fine.

If it's set up right. I bought a $200 Kramer had a Pro set it up and it feels and plays great.
