Connecting the Polar H10 with the Apple Watch

The Polar H10 is a great heart rate sensor for your chest. You can pair it with any smartwatch, also with the Apple Watch but Polar doesn't tell you how.
I hope this little tutorial and some additional tips and tricks will help you out.

Thanks Martin for the useful tutorial! I managed to find another way to truly be sure the H10 recorded your HR during your run. After your run, go to the health app -> heart rate -> data sources -> Apple Watch -> day of your run -> see device details (it should say Polar H10)

Metin, thank you! I searched everywhere to find out how to get the Polar to be the source of my heartbeat in the Activity app--and yours is the ONLY info I could find. Nothing from Polar, nothing from Apple, nothing on forums--only your clear explanation. I just tested, and can see that the Activity app is now sourcing my heartbeat from the H10! thanks again!

Good video…the polar 10 can be Unclipped from the strap on one button instead of completely detached. This still turns it off, and a person is less likely to lose the monitor as it’s still connected to the strap by the one clip button

Polar seem to only want to comment on using the H10 with their own app… I haven’t found anyone else talking about using this with apples built in workout app, so thank you very much for this video. Concise and informative… perfect!

UPDATE: The strap won't pair unless you have the strap against your skin while the sensor is snapped into place. I ended up snapping the sensor into place, then holding the strap in my two hands while waiting for the strap to appear in my watch's bluetooth screen. It worked instantly. Thanks for the video!

ORIGINAL POST: This didn't work for my Polar H10 AND apple watch ultra 🥺 The chest strap never shows up in my watch's Bluetooth device list and I don't know how to make the strap 'discoverable'.

Thanks for your video.
It seems you are using the normal “workout” app from Apple, is that right?
So the HR signal from polar just overwrite the one from the watch itself while the strap is on?

Side question: does it also work without an activity “on”? (What I mean: the “cardio fitness” number is calculated during the activity but also after, looking at the recovery. So having the same sensor used for the HR would make a lot of senses

In case others have the same problem, My H10 wouldn't show up on Apple Devices until I was actually wearing it - probably needs to be outputting a signal for initial pairing?
Thanks for the Video though, I wouldn't have considered being connected to the iPhone first to have been a problem, seems that most things transfer over at set up.

Thanks for this video. My ultra 2 has been annoying me like crazy during my runs lately—give me readings that are extremely inaccurate!! Can’t wait to get my Polar in the mail.

Finally! I can now exercise with accurate and responsive HRs so I'll get less panic attacks lol.

When i connect my h10 wirh my applewatch se and use the nrc app, does it show the heart rate meassured by the h10 on my watch?

1:39 I put it on tighter, but it stills slowly slides down when I'm boxing or running - so frustrating. How can I keep it on better other than just tightening? I have a V-shaped torso so it doesn't help...

Hey thanks for the video. Once connected is the live HR data shown in your Apple Watch during the run from the chest strap or from the Apple Watch

I was having an issue where my Apple Watch was connected to the H10 in Bluetooth settings but the Apple Watch was using the built in heart rate tracker and not utilising the H10. The fix for me was disconnecting the H10 from my iPhones Bluetooth setting and then rebooting the Apple Watch. Not sure if the rebooting was necessary though.
