Dramatic imagery continues to pour in from western North Carolina, a region crippled by historic flooding. Residents are left to deal with life-threatening conditions from the impacts of Helene. There have been dozens of deaths related to Helene in North Carolina and that number is likely to climb.

In a heartbreaking update on Sunday afternoon, Buncombe County Sheriff Quentin Miller said there were 30 confirmed deaths throughout the county at this point. The county has received more than 1,000 missing persons reports through an online form, County Manager Avril Pinder said.

Guys this is hard for everyone and I pray for the victims of the worst flooding I ever seen. Come together and not apart for the ones holding on until help arrives.

So tragic. Even if people prepared for power outage flood waters wipe everything out. No one can prepare for this level of devastation.

There is a small town Bat Cave North Carolina. Businesses have been completely destroyed. I have a friend in Greenville, South Carolina, whose grandmother lost her entire business there to floodwaters.

Prayers to everyone but always remember never take anything for granted. We glorify material things that can always be replaced, but lives lost can't.

The hateful comments in this thread…the nasty political remarks. I remember when people cared about one another, when they came together in times like this.
Not the America I knew…just filled with hatred now.
For all having to deal with this, I’m so sorry. I love WNC, and I pass through Tennessee & Georgia all the time on my way to Alabama from Raleigh. We’re thinking of you, and when roads allow, many will be heading up to help. I can’t imagine being in this situation 🙏💔

Please people in these flooded areas stay Out of that Water! Even when you can walk through it. If you do be prepared to get possible bacteria type staff infections.
