This is a homeowner special install. Escutcheon should be caulked, you don't Teflon and dope a shower arm when the shower head has a rubber washer, also don't use channellocks on anything finish related.

If you have a gasket on the shower head you don't need any tape or sealant, it just leaves a mess. Try it next time it won't leak, promise.

If anyone was wondering why he ran water through before putting the head on, it's so if there's any debris in there it will come out and now clog your shower head. Good practice.

Use the rubber coated handle of the channel lock pliers instead of a screw driver.

NEVER use channel lock pliers on any chrome finish. The teeth will chip the chrome. Buy a set of open ended wrenches in SAE and Metric.

You don’t need Teflon when you have a gasket seal…

Put teflon tape on first to stop the pipe thread sealant from bonding and working, 200 IQ move

And you just left tooth marks in it using the channel locks. Maybe a crescent wrench would be better!

You don't need pipe sealant. Ptfe tape in the wall and that's it. Also use a rubber handle on a tool to turn the head the rest as to not damage anything

Important thing on those heads you want to make sure to take the rubber gasket out, remove the low flow then return the gasket and give the customer a banging ass shower instead of what we get these days

Backwards channel locks..ccw tape is actually cw..sloppiest tape/dope I've ever seen.. uses channel locks on finished fixture... pretty much hack city all around..so glad you made a video to spawn more hacks

Haha I’ve been a plumber for 18 years. Love reading comments. First off you start by putting on the escutcheon finish face out and slide just past the treads going into the wall. If the escutcheon in metal there are tabs on the back side and take a channel lock and gently pinch the tabs. That’s what there there for. If it’s plastic then no need to worry. If you scratch the shower arm going into the wall as the escutcheon slides. Who cares! You’ll never see it. Don’t slide the escutcheon up as you might scratch the finish sliding the escutcheon. Wrap threads with Teflon tape and pipe dope and insert into wall. If you are strong enough hand tight is good enough. If you need to tighten a little more use the handle of you channel locks since it’s rubber against metal not metal on metal. Then yes the shower head has a rubber gasket but you always use Teflon tape and pipe dope on the shower head side. You don’t want to rely on that gasket because after time it will fail or people even plumbers will over crank the shower head which is not necessary. Screw shower head on hand tight then with a crescent wrench snug it then test. if it drips turn water off and tighten until it doesn’t leak. No harm if it leaks on the shower head. As far as caulk. If you have tile not really a big deal if you want to use it but just a dab. But if you have drywall and you ever change out the shower arm to a different finish or breaks for whatever reason. Think about dealing with the caulk later on down the road. Nothing lasts forever. So make it easy on yourself or the plumber that has to deal with it when something goes wrong. The caulk just holds it tight to the wall for a clean look. But you can accomplish the same look if you follow my instructions as I stated earlier.

Correction at the end use a Cresent wrench as your finish tool so you won't leave those bite marks on the polish bolt

“Counter clockwise” depends on which way you’re looking at the shower arm

Teflon tape does not go on counterclockwise. It will unravel. Clockwise is the correct direction.

Don't use a raw screw driver blade, one the risk of marring is there, 2 you can slip off your anchor spot and do any number of things. 3. Being that loose inside can cause misshaping the pipe. Use one of the handles on your channel locks. The fit in the pipe snug, but not tight. The rubber won't cause any damage, and grips inside foundation
