I appreciate that there is actual service call data used for these reliability claims. Obviously they are limited by what they actually sell.

My old Kenmore, about 24 years young, is still going strong. I’ve only needed two repairs - replaced the door hinge and one circuit board.

Thank you for making this video. I just purchased a new home and we don't have a washer and dryer, and we are a family of 5. I have spent hours online searching for a reliable washer and dryer and you confirmed my suspicion about the reviews I was reading. Anytime I go to read reviews I never look at 5 star reviews because I feel like they are only promos, marketing tactics, and people who have not really had the item for longer than a few weeks. I usually go right to the reviews that are 1 and 2 stars immediately. There are many complaints about Samsung washers and I am not purchasing that brand at all. Thank you for the video.

I have an Electrolux that's been good so far. I've had it for a few years now. I went with Electrolux because I need a dryer that vents to the left and they're one of the only brands that still offers a reversible door on both the washer & the dryer, so I'm able to have the dryer on the left and not have the doors in the way.

I think washing machine shopping is just for fun. You can expect a lot from your washer, but the appliance cannot deliver clean clothes if you don't know what utilities you will need.
For my LG, I figured out what its stock wash cycles were years after I started using it, "Cotton, intensive, 60 °C". Still, I needed a liquid detergent prewash to get better grease removal. I upgraded the detergents I use, Persil Color liquid for the prewash, Persil Hygiene Universal powder in main wash for the bleaching.
I am going to add calgon next upon learning that my water source is very hard, so learn the appliance manual before using it.

Thanks for the informative video. We’re looking to replace our old front loading LG WM2301H washer (4.2 cu ft). This machine’s about 12 years old and has a water hammer problem when the valves shut down the water supply – a known issue with old LG's apparently. This wasn't a notable problem initially but has grown worse in the past year with no other changes to our household plumbing. We had a plumber visit, tried fastening down pipes, replacing shut off valves in nearby sinks and installing water hammer arrestors to no avail. Plumber's conclusion was that the problem was with the water shut off system in the machine itself and given the age we should replace it. A couple of questions - 1) Are there new front loading machines on the market known for having gentler water supply shut off action? Our water pressures very typical – lots of other water using appliances in the house that don’t cause this issue – e.g. dishwashers, fridge water supply etc. 2) Are the LG’s specifically better regarding their mold and water shut off problems than they used to be?

My parents have a Miele from 1995, still works. Still original gasket (no mold). Also my 2010 Miele is doing well, as expected.

I have had my Maytag' front load and matching dryer for about 20 years. Yes I have had them serviced over the years (mostly the dryer) but I love them and I am going to use them until I can't get parts anymore.

Why did washing clothes become so technical and complicated?!

Do you know if the LG has a direct drive motor, and if so, what are the benefits? Also, does the LG do well at keeping the load balanced? I have a 13-year-old GE, which is terrible at getting off balance with towels. It is supposed to catch an off-balance load and adjust, but it often takes several minutes. I hope the LG will be much better at preventing off-balanced loads and quickly detecting them when they occur.

I’m so gun shy about appliances…I purchased a Kenmore refrigerator, stove, & dishwasher in 2007. The refrigerator compressor went out in 2019, replaced the ice maker 5 times, we have very hard water, replaced the water filter every 4 months. Replaced it with an LG, OCT. 2019, purchased an extended warranty from LG. They sent LG technicians for an icing up issue in the freezer. They determined it was the compressor. In the meantime I contacted a local appliance technician I used to repair a used upright freezer I purchased for my garage. Well…it was the defrost sensor…he ordered & repaired my refrigerator before LG & their techs could get the parts😂. Need to upgrade stove & dishwasher….age. I thought about replacing my Maytag washer & dryer for some sleek new stackable set….I think I’ll live with my ugly old white set…they work great. Thanks for the great video. If you sold appliances in Texas…I’d be buying from you.

Electrolux front loaders are great too!

Due to space limitations the best option for me will be the LG washtower (have not purchased yet). Any feedback you can provide?

I'll keep my Kenmore washer and dryer I bought back in 1990 with no issues or service calls. The only thing the dryer needs is a heating element and since I broke the selector also needs replaced.

We have owned samsung appliances and that includes samsung front load washer. We bought it back in 2016 and just this year it has serious issues such as the bearing getting worn out. It has lasted 7 years, but with the amount of times its being used as we have a big family, this washer has actually lasted us maybe double that time

4.9 years...GE front load broken! only the quick wash still works properly.
I have 2 months left on the 5 year warranty. IF they can fix it in under one month i will keep it until it breaks.
If not, speed queen here we come!!!
(either way, i'm getting a speed queen!)
Edit…. Now, I’m leaning towards LG

They might quit on me by morning, but I've had an Electrolux front load washer and dryer for 14 years with no issues.

Where did Miele fall on this? I would have expected them to be high up the list
