Tip: store brought wrapper just do twice cold water since they are evenly thin. 3 cold water usually for homemade wrappers which are thicker.

my mum would fill anything with already cooked meat and veggies, so we never run to this issue haha. it’s always cooked we just need a little fry or steam and we are good

I used to do this but then realized there’s really no need to, just add water one time then boil continuously will be fine.

We turks and othee turkic nations nearly always boil our mantıs. I think its way better than steaming beacuse when you steam them the wrap of mantı feels like raw. Oh and also we make them super tiny and eat with yoğurt.

Better way is to sear them on one side covered and let them get brown and then throw a lid on with a little cold water and let them steam

I only boil dumplings if i plan to put it in soup, most of the time i just steam them or fry if i like feeling oily 😂 the great thing about dumplings is you can’t fuck it up and even if you do, it still tastes amazing.

This is super helpful and can help me time them in hotpot so much better with using frozen fish balls instead of water to shock it cold!

You know, I've tried cooking dumpling with sous vide and it's cooked perfectly because the temperature was always consistent (which is what the traditional method for)

For boston made dumplings from the factory, those filling actual got cooked first, skin takes longer.

Depends what wrap youbuse, if its the cheap disintergrate type then yes you might need to do this, oyherwise its not needed

Why can't we just bring them to a boil and then turn down the temp to low to complete the cooking?
